She lost votes in the last election and the AfD party which opposes the migrant tidal wave that swept over Germany under Merkel's leadership, moved from zero seats to more than 90 in the parliament.
German elites are jumping through hoops of fire trying to disenfranchise the 13+ percent of the population that voted for AfD. I hope they all burn.
As you read into the article and from the way this played on NPR a few minutes ago, the possibility of Merkel being replaced as leader of her party is very real, also the likelihood of new elections.
Germany’s Chancellor and Britain’s Prime Minister are both on the ropes right now.
President Trump made reference to the “calm before the storm” at the White House some time back.
Looks like we’ve reached “the storm”.
Stick an apple in die Sau’s mouth and roast her rotten carcass. Die Fuehrerin.
Coalition? Ha! Run her out of town on a rail.

In Denmark, Norway and Sweden, each for its own reason, there are minority governments.
CDU/CSU with or without FDP should attempt a minority government. Then, seek enough votes from the members of the other parties on a case by case basis. This can be done.
The problem FDP has (and also CSU) is appeasing the Greens on immigration and fiscal policy. But, since she has verboten AfD, she cannot form a coherent majority government. So, minority government is the best option.
I read that the Green Party, due to its soft heart for Muslim immigrants, is demanding that the families of the Muslims now in German be allowed to come in. I would suggest that all the Muslims be returned to their home countries, and the Green Party members can go back with them and demand special treatment themselves in the Muslim countries. The special treatment would, no doubt, involve getting their heads cut off.
Zu wenig, zu spät, Deutschland! Du hast schon alles verloren.
Et tu as tout perdu aussi, la belle France!
Sounds pretty friggin clear to me. 🙄
If she goes, she will be replaced with someone just as bad, just not widely known - yet.
After 12 years in office Merkel has just beaten Hitler as a longer serving chancellor. Is she planning being a fuhrer for life?
So we won’t be subjected to as much clucking from Hillary’s two best friends in Europe, either. Okay. Some rest homes are probably fairly nice.
Germany allows a female caliph even though it’s an Islamic country now? Maybe she’s mistaken for a man?
