Interesting everything in S Africa
I bet he’s just stumped by these turn of events. His defense didn’t have a leg to stand on.
One of the things that struck me during my recent visit was that,in affluent areas at least (which is where we stayed before and after our "safari") there are fences, barbed wire, signs that say stuff like "Acme Security Armed Response". Violent crime in affluent areas is absolutely incredible...including during daylight hours.
It seems to me that his claim of being in fear of an armed intruder is absolutely plausible.Of course he absolutely could be lying through his teeth.
Yep, they sure cut his legs right out from under him

Interesting post yours. I didn’t follow the trial. But I gotta wonder...if it was self-defense, why would he shoot through a closed door, not knowing where his girlfriend was?
A very valid question. But my attitude (he may be telling the truth) is supported by 1) he's rich 2) he lived in a rich area 3) violent murders are a dime a dozen there and 4) he has no legs and sleeps without his artificial limbs on...making him even *more* vulnerable, and more afraid, than an ordinary guy would be.
But like I said...he could have been lying through his teeth.
That sentence will take the spring out of his step!
I was struck in the videos of the trial how the attorneys addressed the female judge not as "Your Honor", but rather as "My Lady." Presumably male judges are addressed "My Lord."
Fear of an intruder isn’t plausible re Pistorius, who lived in a locked-gated “estate” complex where armed guards patrolled 24-7. The most damning evidence came from neighbors who testified to hearing a loud argument and the victim’s screams through their open windows. Open windows indicates no fear of intruders imo.
Ask yourself this...at the first shot, wouldn’t the girlfriend scream or otherwise make a sound identifying herself by the sound of her voice? So why did he fire four times? The verdict was changed to murder for a reason, and the reason is obvious.
What destroyed his defense about intruders was two neighbors heard her screaming in a bloodcurdling way....their words in describing her screams.....screaming for someone to help her please
She knew he was going to try to kill her
Something along the lines of this ain’t working out and I’m leaving you which means in girl talk “I’ve met someone and likely they have two legs and perhaps a larger penis or more money or both” and he reacts thinking oh shit I can’t let this absolutely goddess woman leave me and do all we do with another man who likely indeed does have two legs unlike me
So I’ll show her
I’ll kill her and then me....I just couldn’t live without her
She runs to bathroom and he fires through door into bathroom....an odd intruder spot.....
Then he lacks stones to off himself as plannned and the rest is a trial
That’s my hunch
It was known that she was thinking of leaving him and had packed her bags according to her parents
Here’s a quick synopsis I copied from a thread in SA on it
No I dont think his story is believable I think the facts all show that his story did not happen:
1) There was internet connections past ten pm, when he said they were sleeping
2) The neighbors heard screaming and an argument
3) She was in full clothes, not clothes that people wear to bed, clearly she had not just woken up from sleep
4) she locked the bathroom door with phones inside, noone does that who just wakes up from sleep and is going to the bathroom
5) there was proof there was food in her stomach two hours before her death, which shows she was not sleeping
6) one neighbor said they saw the light on in the bathroom
7) they also checked her bladder and she had not just used teh bathroom
8) she was standing and obviously was there to protect herself from him, thats why she was in defensive position
9) most ballistic experts say she would have screamed after the first bullet
10) there was blood in the bedroom as well, indicating that more had happened
11) there was some indiaction from here text messages that he had tantrums and she feared him
It was a brief 11-12 week affair and she was done.....probably from his temper....women who don’t have one themselves don’t like tempers so she was bugging out
Real pity gunned down unarmed
Your attitude, “he may be telling the truth” isn’t supported by anything. You obviously didn’t see the trial.
Plus she was basically shot in the toilet pantry ....a small parlour room as we calll them in lower USA latitudes
Toilet and sink
He snapped and shot her
He’d woulda got life here....death if he had his legs
No mitigating stuff like catching her in bed with another man
She had her jeans positioned in their room like she was putting them on to leave when it all escalated
A little piece of evidence he did not repair
His story is riddled with implausibles and the circumstantial is strong
He freaked out at the thought she’s leaving and killed her
He had issues and I can’t say it’s certainly taxing I would think to feel the vulnerability legless he does and especially in his prime
Not excusing him but I think it got the best of him
Men even double amputees especially with his fame and good looks need to remember there are always other women in this world
Just let em go and start looking for another woman and try to work on whatever drove that one offf that might be corrected for future reference
I’m old I’ve learned all this the hard way
Man I never wanted to shoot one though
I watched the whole trial. The judge was a joke.
I saw part of it and,as I suggested earlier,I have what could be considered a slightly deeper understanding of current day South Africa than do many Americans. The lengths to which people in "affluent" areas of the country go to prevent crime is something I've seen...and *still* have trouble fully comprehending.
That alone lends a degree of plausibility to his argument...but certainly doesn't *prove* his case. After all,if Nicole Brown Simpson was into drugs (don't know if she was or not) it's *possible* that Colombian drug runners could have killed her....but didn't.
I have also been to South Africa my friend and that alone doesn't give you a deeper understanding if you didn't see the whole trial.
That’s why you pack your bags and leave the crazy when he/she isn’t at home.
He should have made a run for it.
