Congress has handed Trump a historic presidential victory [Grassley nixes blue slips]
CNBC ^

Posted on 11/24/2017 9:45:48 AM PST by TigerClaws

President Donald Trump should give special thanks to two U.S. Senators this Thanksgiving weekend. One is still serving in the Senate, the other recently retired. One is a Republican. The other a Democrat. And what should President Trump be thanking them for? Quite simply they have handed him one of the biggest victories any president could claim in the past 45 years.

Yes, this has happened even as one of the most widely covered stories of the past year has been President Trump's difficulties in working with Congress. The growing rift between him and Republican Senators John McCain, Jeff Flake, and Bob Corker alone has made headlines for months. For a U.S. president to have this many public feuds with senators from his own party this early in his presidency is really unprecedented and makes for hot news copy.

But that story ignores a bigger and longer-lasting development in the federal judiciary. That brings us first to naming the Republican gift giver: Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa. The longtime member of Congress has big time clout as the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. And Grassley has just used that clout to eliminate one of the final hurdles in the already furious pace of Trump administration judicial appointments to the federal bench.

"For this reason alone the Republicans need to retain control of the Senate in 2018, RINOs and all."

1000% disagree. Never defend a RINO. Not ever. They are the snipers wearing our uniform at our backs keeping us from giving the front lines of battle our undivided attention. They must go as they are discovered. It is only because so many of us were unwilling to support the RINO Romney, even at the cost of a second Obama term, that we have Trump today. Retaining control of the Whitehouse in 2012 with Romney at the helm was far worse for the conservatives in the bigger picture. Same for the Senate. Get rid of the cancer first, and worry about replacing it with healthy tissue second.

McConnell should realize, Steve Bannon is watching and noting Turtle’s every move. I’m really glad Bannon is there, and working to clear the Rinos, Never Trumpers and anti-American democRATs out of both Houses.

Can someone simplify and synthesize this for me? The article is so poorly wrotten. Whatever happened to the old journalistic rule: Who, What, Where, When, How?...all in the first paragraph!

True.

We have to hold our noses and still vote for these Republicans while Trump is in the WH.

Affirmative.

With the Democrats just starting their free fall, what a perfect time to get proven grassroots Consitutionalists to Primary the RINOs where nationalism is carrying the day.

Obi-Wan KaBannon is on it.

This area is the clearest win for Trump to this point. It will have very long term consequences for social stability and common sense in America. If he doesnt win another battle, placing conservative, young judges on the federal bench will benefit us for years.

They pretty much stick to that rule, except with a bit of an adjustment:

WHO is the conservative who is at fault (besides Trump)?
WHAT is the horrible thing that Trump did?
WHERE are the victims of Trump's naziism?
WHEN is the next anti-fa rally to protest white people and their great Trumphitler?
HOW is it possible that Hillary lost?

I’m in favor of term limits.
But watching how my Senator Grassley is getting things done, shows the advantage to having someone there who knows how to get things done.

Eating it.

Evidently it's possible.

This and the post the other day that is controversial, that Judge Moore will say no to pro-forma session, and request a voice vote for recess, which would an allow an unkuboko recess appointment event by PDJT. No I am not tired of winning!!!

Whatever happened to the old journalistic rule: Who, What, Where, When, How?...all in the first paragraph!

Went the way everything has, since our children and grandchildren stopped receiving a quality education. Whatever demon thought up ruining education was sure on to something. Most young people today only know revisionist history, including revisionist politics. They are woefully uninformed, and it is no wonder they conduct their politics the way they do. Thanks be to God, that a revival is coming, in which eyes will be opened, and hearts softened. It is not God’s will that even one should perish, but the destruction of the unrepentant is self-inflicted.

This article is well-written with hardly any slanting. What a refreshing change to read news to get news and to understand the context of the news! The holiday copyeditor let it slip through.
