Liberals/progressive still do not understand why Trump won in 2016.

And they are going to be shocked again in 2020.

Kurt Schlichter put it splendidly in Behold Our Betters.:

"They wonder why they got Trump.

They are why they got Trump."

Yep. I'd put them roughly at where Republicans were, circa 2005-08. No decent national candidates to run, no one ready (or willing) to come off the bench and step up into the national spotlight. When their best choices are an 80-year-old socialist (Bernie), Discount Hillary Clinton (Warren) and whatever Kamala Harris is.....they're in real trouble.

2020 looks pretty good, and I'm optimistic about '24, as well. Lots of good conservative people on the bench, getting ready to step into the spotlight. Meanwhile Dem-lite candidates like McCain and Flake are getting moved to the side.

Simultaneously, the Dem party is engaging in a circular firing squad. Lots of Freepers want to see BO and Hillary tossed in jail for their actions (as would I), but realistically, that's not going to happen. What *will* happen is that the 2nd tier movers and shakers will all get tossed under the bus to protect them. Weinstein, Brazile, the Podestas, and others were just the first volley. There won't be much room left under the bus come 2018 or 19.

So...to sum up my rant.... things look pretty good short term. All things are cyclical though, and Republicans will overreach as all pols do, and will eventually come crashing down as all pols do. Hopefully, first, they can roll back some of the damage of the past 25-odd years.
