How can we tolerate the FBI being complicit in destroying evidence (laptops and hard drives) yet fail to collect evidence (like the DNC server), then have the author of the ‘dossier’ on the FBI payroll while he was also collecting fees from Hillary and the DNC, then use the fictional ‘dossier’ as a launching pad for running to the FISA Court to spy on Hilary’s opponent using the fictional ‘dossier’ as gospel? Not even perverse Hollywood could come up with a script like this... ++++ Best 1 paragraph summary of this farce of an investigation that I have seen. There should be an FR Award for your post.

+++++++++++++++++++

Thanks! No award necessary, but please feel free to use this as you see fit. If would be great to see yet another attribution to FR if it goes national.

Your humble servant, SERKIT

After looking at some of these comments I want to advise FReepers to please carefully read the article before bashing McCarthy.

Yes, NRO has been absurdly, ridiculously anti-Trump, but McCarthy's article is not: he shows, convincingly I think, how Mueller is likely to proceed, even though McCarthy makes a very strong counter-case as to why any obstruction charges will be highly compromised and legally weak. McCarthy also shows how the “collusion” case, which Mueller was originally tasked with investigating, has completely collapsed.

Any charge of “obstruction “ won’t fly.

First, the President is the top law enforcement official in the land. Second, there is a very big problem with the FBI and NSA spying on an opposition party’s presidential candidate and president election.

Some would call that treason.

Kimberly Strassel on Journal Editorial Report thought that maybe Flynn did not lie but just failed to remember the meeting with the Russian ambassador. If that is so, presumably he was coerced into admitting he was lying by whatever Mueller was threatening him with (like going after his son).

You’re pretty much screwed if the FBI has a transcript of a conversation and then ask you questions about that conversation 4 weeks later. I doubt I could remember every single word that I utter 4 weeks after I uttered them

You’re better off with the Hillary response: I cannot recall. You cannot be charged with obstruction for having a faulty memory.

Trying to be honest is sometimes worse if the prosecutor has already determined that you’re guilty of something.

Sounds like Flynn had a crappy lawyer when he was interviewed by the FBI

So when is Mueller going to announce the indictments of the Podesta brothers and of Bill and Hill for Uranium One and Clinton Foundation influence-peddling and other nefarious deeds?

I mean that was the theory, right, that Mueller was really ‘our guy’ who was using cover of going after Trump to drain the swamp and had stacked his team with rabid Clinton and Obama partisans in order to wrongfoot critics and for the final outcome to be beyond reproach?

Flynns imunity deal is for crimes he commited during the Obama administration, it’s inthe filing. He has NO immunity while serving Trump.

It’s Obama that is being investigated along with Hillery. Comey lost his immunity deal.

He didn’t bring a lawyer when they interviewed him.

Therefore it is critical to keep the House and the Senate in the R camp, as weak and tenuous as they are.

Worse yet is he didn’t have a lawyer present when he was interviewed. Like they say, a man who represents himself has a fool for a client.

Andy misses several points one being that Flynn is immune from crimes while he served Obama, NO immunity while serving Trump. Mueller is going after the FBI, Obama and Clinton to name a few.

The other piece Andy misses is early on it was reported that the WH advised the FBI that Flynn lied.

So then he *did* have a crappy lawyer.

I am having a very hard time getting anything around this labor of Democrat love? God spare me!

Salient points from the article:

“attempting to undermine the policy of the incumbent Obama administration — at least on the U.N. resolution condemning Israel.”

“damage of Trump-transition interference with President Obama’s foreign relations would have been magnified by Russia’ involvement, given that Democrats were accusing Trump of colluding with Putin to throw the election. “

“conversation about the sanctions between Flynn and Kislyak look terrible, no matter how innocent they were and no matter how normal for a transition period”

“Mueller would theorize, Flynn had a motive, for legal and political reasons, to lie about his contacts with the Russian ambassador”

“Flynn was taking direction from Trump-transition officials in connection with those contacts,”

“President Trump had a motive to make the FBI’s Flynn investigation disappear.”

“the theory goes, explains why Trump pressured Comey to drop the Flynn investigation, and why he ultimately fired Comey “

the very next day, he told Russian diplomats was related to the pressure Trump had been facing “because of Russia.”

The point is that the Congress can pretty much impeach someone for whatever reason it deems politically necessary. If you can get most of the House and two-thirds of the Senate to say Trump is gone, he’s gone.

Then Congress would be impeaching the president for unconstitutional reasons. And then the country is "gone".

No it's not. "We shall fight them on the beaches. . ." 10 Million Patriots showing up at the Mall would happen. People are Mad to the Max right now. If they really push the impeachment crap through some legal shenanigans, then we'll show up. I hope they call our bluff. Let's get it over with.
