It should have always been a simple decision based on our laws, our Constitution and international standards.

Do we recognize the state of Israel? Yes.

Is Jerusalem part of Israel, and a part the U.S. does not dispute. Yes.

Is Jerusalem the seat of the government of Israel? Yes.

Then, just to please some other middle east nations or peoples, is not a foundation for the U.S. to not recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital - which it is - or not move our embassy there (our embassies are normally in the capital of a nation).

To the Arabs. You’ve had almost 70 years to make peace with Israel. It’s about time you did.
