Traditional US allies are among a growing chorus condemning President Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Saudi Arabia called it "unjustified and irresponsible", while France and the UK said they did not support the decision.
But Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu hailed it as "historic" and said he was sure more countries would follow suit.
President Trump's move reversed decades of US policy on one of the thorniest issues between Israel and Palestinians.
Hundreds of Israeli troops have been deployed to the West Bank amid a day of protests and strikes by Palestinians.

I use to work with a Palestinian when I drove a cab in New York city. EVERYTHING about that conflict is based 100% on antisemitism. I never met in my life a more antisemitic guy than him who BTW was always making demands of people. He blamed everything on the Jews. Too much traffic? It was because of the Jews. Gas prices too high? It was because of the Jews. Didn’t get enough fares today? It was because of the Jews. Street construction going on? It was because of the Jews. The Palestinians are nothing but a bunch of Islamo-Nazis and if it was up to me I’d get them the furthest thing away from Israel and Jews, they’re all psychopaths.
Congress and past presidents approved the measure but did nothing. All talk, no action. Trump promised and he delivered. A man of his word. The Lord keeps His Word and delivers at the appointed times.
Then it MUST BE THE RIGHT THING TO DO!......................
I am thankful Trump did thid. It was long overdue. Anyone with their knickers in a bunch over this needs to understand bending over for muslims is a no win position. Particularly “Palestinians”, which are not a legetimate people.
