The urban counties showed up and the rural counties didn’t. Jefferson, Madison, and Montgomery saw about 45% turnout. Rural counties like Cullman, Chilton, Walker and Moore’s own Etowah saw turnout of 35-38%.

Mitch McConnell - or Snake in the grass - got what he wanted. 9 million to defeat Moore in the primary - zero to support Moore in the election. 6 weeks of TV adds with few opposition ads paid off for the Dems. Chuck Schumer sleeps well tonight.

Mitch is closer to being Minority Leader again, which is what he wants, all the perks, with none of the responsibility.

I would love it if we could drag marginal candidates like Roy Moore across the finish line, but wouldn’t it be far wiser to pick more charismatic candidates to start with? Why should we have to drag a candidate across the finish line when they act like they couldn’t care less about winning to start with?

As for the Christianity aspects that some raise, faithful Christians can disagree over whether one follows court orders or not, i.e. Roy Moore’s Ten Commandments battles. One isn’t an evil sinner for disagreeing with Roy Moore on issues like that.

BTW, I hope he sues his accusers and the truth comes out. I personally think he dated teenagers as a 30+ year old man. Not illegal or even immoral but that’s creepy in this day and age. It’s another strike against the man, and if you get enough strikes you discourage voters from going to the polls for you (thereby losing).

What’s with riding a horse to go vote, attending a game on the weekend rather than campaigning, and getting interviewed by a 12 year old after all the accusations? It’s like he dared people not to vote for him!!! Nutty!

Just how do you go about “picking” a candidate? The voters picked their man in the primary, what else would you suggest.

Obviously the other candidates in the primary weren’t good enough to ‘close the sale’. But you can’t force people to run for office, frankly, who needs to aggravation that comes with it these days?

What you imply is true. We don’t get to pick who wins a primary. Primary voters got their choice in this case, and that choice set the stage for what followed. So who to blame? I blame diehards on the right who refuse to recognize obvious, serious flaws in their leaders. Fact: Roy Moore was a very controversial candidate even before the allegations. I also blame Republican moderates who expect conservatives to support their choices, but who refuse to vote for conservatives when we win. You don’t see Democrats doing such things.

Bottom line: Roy Moore would be better than Doug Jones, but Republican moderates prefer Democrats over conservatives.

The GOP establishment is intent on keeping it's power, no matter if it becomes the minority.

I am done voting GOP, except for Trump.

That’s reassuring. But to another’s point; who is fighting besides Trump?

I’m in Pa. And have concern for couple of seats....my Congressional district, the other is acRoss the state...Tim Murphy’s seat. Also, Toomey. We need wins here. The Dems are pushing women candidates all over the place..and I shudder to think of many of those harpy types winning. They’re still pissed about Hillary..
