This doesn't make sense. Historically, at this time of year, all the mexicans are going back to mexico because of the holidays. Usually the numbers go down in Dec and Jan until the spring crops start coming in in March.

With Venezuela and Guatemala about to collapse, there is going to be a surge of immigrants trying to pass through Mexico in hopes of getting into the USA. That by itself will result in an increase in border arrests.
