Legalizing ‘Dreamers’ would cost $26 billion: CBO
Washington Times ^ | Dec 15, 2017 | Stephen Dinan

Legalizing 2 million illegal immigrant “Dreamers” would cost the government $25.9 billion over the next decade, as those now-legal people would claim more tax, education and other benefits they haven’t been able to get before, the Congressional Budget Office said Friday.

The CBO also said newly legalized Dreamers would sponsor 80,000 more immigrants to enter the country as part of “chain migration.”

Immigrant-rights activists have argued that legalizing Dreamers would be a financial boon to the country, but the CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation suggested otherwise, saying that while they would pay somewhat higher taxes into the government, they would take far more out of it.

The findings could be a blow to activists who have demanded the bill be included in any year-end spending deal. Congress already struggles to find offsets for other spending, and digging a hole more than $25 billion deeper could be difficult.

“In total, CBO and JCT estimate that changes in direct spending and revenues from enacting [the bill] would increase budget deficits by $25.9 billion over the 2018-2027 period,” the budget analysts said in their analysis.

The CBO said there are between 11 million and 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. now, and some 3.25 million of those would be eligible for the Dream Act.

Under the bill, anyone brought to the U.S. as a minor who has worked toward an education and kept a generally clean criminal record could apply for immediate legal status. Most of those would go on to be able to apply for citizenship eventually.

Of the 3.25 million eligible, about 2 million would actually apply, the CBO said, and 1.6 million of them would earn status over the next decade. Roughly 1 million would go on to become citizens within the decade, allowing them to sponsor

So it would cost 200 billion.

It would cost so much more. It would ensure a permanent socialist majority as the nightmares and their families would all vote the party that gives them other people’s money.

And kicking them out, how about $10K each as kick-start funds on the way out the door? That’d be $8 billion but they’d be gone and good riddance to them. If they stay gone, and take their illegal families with them, money well spent. Tie that with eVerify to make sure all adult members are out of work, so they follow that money home to Mexico.

While I agree “no more money”, I think we might pay them to leave, else give bounties to US ctizens to drag them in for deportation. Hey, give employers money to turn in their illegal employees! Then, if they don’t, bring out the stick and jail them!

It’ll cost us $25.9 billion alone in lost time having to listen to “para español por favor presione dos” over the nex ten years. Boot them out and maybe we can get corporations and governments to begin to act as if everybody speaks English.

Of the 3.25 million eligible, about 2 million would actually apply, the CBO said, and 1.6 million of them would earn status over the next decade. Roughly 1 million would go on to become citizens within the decade, allowing them to sponsor other relatives to enter the U.S., analysts predicted.

But that million new citizens would only sponsor 80,000 on chain immigration? Pull my other leg. The CBO might be off by a factor of 50. 4 each for that million is more likely than one for every 12.

No DACA. They received enough benefits. Send them back to to their countries of origin. With their free education from America they will contribute to the growth of their own country.

If you start with late 60’s/early 70’s numbers of illegals, add their birth rates, add the millions who came here unfettered under Obama, deduct those who may have died here, and deduct those who may have self deported, I get a number much closer to 55 million illegals here in the USA.

Obama kept LOWERING the number until he was quoting only about 8 million by the time he left office-—but the Dems have been hiding the truth from us for years.

I lived in So Calif from March 1964 to May 1993. One of the main reasons I left was because I no longer felt safe with the massive influx of illegals.

I would not object to those who have been well-behaved while here and who promise not to return (under threat of severe punishment) receiving a startup payment, so they are not penniless when they go.

What’s next? Rob a bank and your ‘innocent’ children get to keep the loot?

NONE OF THE AMNESTY FIXES HAVE WORKED - THEY JUST SET THE STAGE FOR THE NEXT ‘FIX’.

MAN UP PEOPLE - SEND ILLEGALS HOME.

That estimate was so low. But you are right. The country is split down the middle and any advantage either way would tip the balance.
