Oops. I was thinking of Ed Bradley...

Ben Bradlee was played by Jason Robards Jr. in All the President's Men. Bradlee died back in 2014, but I assumed he passed away when Robards did, back in 2000. The fact that Bradlee had dementia in his last years probably accounts for the fact that he dropped from sight around that time. Anyway, Robards so made himself that character that there wasn't any room left for the original Ben Bradlee in the world, let alone Tom Hanks as Bradlee.
