Arctic forever changed by rapidly warming climate – UN weather agency
UN News Centre ^ | December 20, 2017 | by UN Staff

The Arctic continued in 2017 to warm at double the rate of the global temperature increase, resulting in the second warmest air temperatures, above average ocean temperatures, loss of sea ice, and a range of human, ocean and ecosystem effects, according to the United Nations weather agency.

“While 2017 saw fewer records shattered than in 2016, the Arctic shows no sign of returning to the reliably frozen region it was decades ago,” said the Arctic Report Card, a peer-reviewed study that brings together the work of 85 scientists from 12 nations.

The UN World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said on Tuesday that the Arctic Report Card shows that the warming trend is continuing to drive dramatic transformation in the Arctic region.

“This report marks a fundamental change,” says Jeff Rosenfeld, editor-in-chief of BAMS. “For years scientists have known humans are changing the risk of some extremes. But finding multiple extreme events that weren’t even possible without human influence makes clear that we’re experiencing new weather, because we’ve made a new climate.”

Give credit where credit is due.

They are persistent.

Despite being proven liars and frauds they keep dishing it out because they know that a significant number of voters are stupid enough to buy their BS.

“forever” is long time, no? How can anyone with even a partially functioning brain make such an all-encompassing statement?

How did the Arctic survive the Medieval warming period?

So climate can change, but climate cannot change again?

I don’t get it.

Good. If it’s “forever changed”, as the article claims, then there is no point in continuing to worry about it because we cant’t “fix” it anyway.

I expect to hear no more about reducing our “carbon footprint” in order to “save” the arctic.

Simple. Give over all your property and liberty to the global “Green” government, and Earth will become paradise.

OK, I don’t get it. I read stories where Alaska is having record cold and snow fall, so which is it?

Hyperbole in the service of the religion of [insert current name here]! Perhaps one reply could be a reference to the reliably frozen region of the equator in the time of the 'Snowball Earth' and why that did not last?

As for myself and my personal belief, I believe that we have seen warming from prior decades but I am unconvinced that the religious fervor of the doomsayers and their proposed EXPENSIVE & ONEROUS solutions will do much to 'solve' it. Add to that is the fact that the warming has perceptively increased agriculture just as it has in previous warming periods through history. Finally, there is the real puzzle of the Sun and its variability that might, just as easily move us cooler just as it has done in previous eras. SNORT!

Forever, huh? Ever and ever and ever? So this is it? Once again, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

I’m actually looking forward to it because that will finally shut these shysters up for good. If I never again hear a liberal crackpot voice, I will be in utopia.

They’re right, alway’s have been. If the climate didn’t change I’d either be in ice, or underwater.

Ain’t a damn thing humans do to cause it, or that can stop it, however. That’s the part they got wrong.

With more of this over the top nonsense, we can look forward to more envirowacko amateur sailors getting trapped in the ice next Summer trying to navigate the Northwest Passage.

Global warming causes extreme cold and snowfall Didn’t you know that?

They have found evidence of warming under Greenland’s ice such as implements and such from Medieval times. Must be the humans used/settled some of those areas and then came the Little Ice Age and humans either left or adapted.

Hehehe, something to look forward to!

If human influence is the problem, maybe these folks would volunteer to be the first to off themselves to save the planet?

And I didn’t even know the UN had it’s very own weather bureau; silly me.
