I don’t understand this need to confront the killer of a loved one.

I would assume that a murderer would enjoy the misery he had caused and I would not reveal my pain to the killer.

That pain is between me and my missing loved one and God.

You make a valid point. A true sociopath or psychopath will not care about, or may even revel in, the misery he has caused.

I think the reason most people want to make victim statements, and require murderers to hear about the pain they have caused, is that they hold out hope, no matter how slim, that these people have some shred of human conscience, no matter how small and no matter how deeply buried.

This guy was basically an aspiring serial killer. I doubt he cares not one whit of the suffering he put his victims’ family through.

I think like you do. The killer could just as easily get off his victims pain.
