"Aye, aye! and I’ll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition’s flames before I give him up."

The New York Times published a glowing paean to the New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, today. The reason for such hype is that Schneiderman is completely obsessed with going after President Donald Trump to the extent that we have reached a new milestone. He has taken 100, count them, 100 legal or administrative actions against the Trump administration and those evil congressional Republicans.

The ironic thing is that reporters Danny Hakim and William K. Rashbaum in their idolization of Schneiderman also revealed his obsession is so overboard that the real duties of that state's attorney general are pretty much of a sideshow in New York’s Attorney General in Battle With Trump:

When Schneiderman reaches the magic 101 Trump obsessed legal actions, he will qualify for a free dose of lithium treatment.

Prosecutors have been given extremely broad immunity by the Supreme Court.

That was a mistake.

New York AG is the job you take to make a public spectacle of yourself, before you run for governor. Normal procedure is to squeeze some big corporation for a lot of money in the name of the people, or like Schneiderman, grandstand stupidly about Trump.

I stumbled upon a leftist twatter fantasy stating that Mueller is going to transfer all of his “evidence” to Schneiderman to prosecute Trump, Sessions and Pence for NY State RICO violations re: money laundering and obstruction of justice. Really. That’s their brilliant plan.

New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman is one of the most loathsome figures in American public life.

If he’s from NY State, you know he’s corrupt, and Trump has the full resources of the DOJ, if Sessions can get off his ass. Hope he will and give this guy a taste of his deep state medicine.

25 Dec: AlbanyTimes-Union: Chris Bragg: New York officials publicly push against fossil fuels, while investing in them
Since 2015, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been in a pitched battle with ExxonMobil: The state’s top law enforcement official is probing whether the company lied to its investors concerning how climate change could harm the oil business.
It turns out that Schneiderman, in fact, is among those investors.
According to Schneiderman’s most recent financial disclosure form, for 2016, he owned between $50,000 to $75,000 in Vanguard Energy ETF. As of the end of November, ExxonMobil was the fund’s biggest holding, according to Vanguard’s website, followed by others giants such as Chevron, ConocoPhillips and Halliburton…

Several lawmakers who have signed onto a bill that would force Comptroller Tom DiNapoli to divest from the 200 oil and gas and coal companies with the largest reserves, themselves have investments in either those companies, or companies that are known serious polluters.

The issue of divestment has come to the fore because Gov. Andrew Cuomo called earlier this month for DiNapolli – the sole trustee of the state’s $201 billion pension fund – to stop all significant fossil fuel investments...
