Senators' trip to Russia scuttled after visa denied over sanctions 'black list'

A Democratic senator from New Hampshire has been added to a “black list” after Russia denied a visa request effectively canceling a bipartisan congressional trip to the country in the coming weeks.

The Russian Embassy said Saturday that it had denied the visa request by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in response to those U.S. lawmakers who backed more sanctions on Russia earlier this year and are part of a “black list.” The two-term senator along with Sens. Ron Johnson, of Wisconsin, and John Barrasso, of Wyoming, had planned to travel to Russia in January, but the trip is now canceled.

“While she regrets the Kremlin decision to impede dialogue between the Senate and the Russian people, (the senator) vows to continue her work to hold the Russian government accountable for its actions that go against international norms and against the Russian people," a Shaheen spokesmen told news outlets.

Maybe Senator Shaheen should spend her time and effort on holding Hillary accountable for her actions both here and on foreign soil, eh?

I bet the Russkies would respect the rule of law more if they saw that nobody was above the law here in the good old USA.

The senate regrets that it will not have a chance to open a dialogue with the Russian people . Lol, freaking amazing, that’s exactly what they accuse Russia of doing to us.

Quite a disconnect

Let’s sanction the EU. Democracies where governments are run by ruling elites that act like they can do whatever they want, i.e., the EU and the Obama regime, are more dangerous than a government like Russia’s.

Good thing the senators aren't going on this trip.

Upon their return, they would immediately be placed under full investigation plus threats of indictment by Commissar Mueller for "dialogue and collusion with the Russians".

That was what I thought, the hubris and hypocrisy of those senators to think they have the right to go over the head of the Russian government and “talk to the Russian people”, when they are trying to literally make a federal case by lying about Russia doing exactly the same thing here.

[dialogue between the Senate and the Russian people]

Sounds like a thwarted ‘fact finding mission’ to discredit President Trump.

Yes, exactly. Our elected representatives are supposed to be allowed to stir up crap with Russians, while anything Russia allegedly does on social media here is scandalous? What a bunch of bipartisan buffoons.
