California has leveled misdemeanor charges against 41-year-old Mark Feigin after he sent five anti-Muslim posts to the Islamic Center of Southern California’s (ICSC) Facebook page in 2016.

The California Attorney General’s office argues that his comments constituted “repeated contact by means of an electronic communication device” with “intent to annoy or harass,” a misdemeanor under California law...

The Mass supremes in the 70’s ruled that the family and doctors of an elderly severely mentally retarded male with leukemia couldn’t make medical decisions for him. They were too emotionally involved and THE STATE could do a better job.

40 years later and they are still idiots.

It’s not illegal and the prosecutor knows it ( assuming he is a licensed attorney). It’s malicious and racially discriminatory (and patently unconstitutional) prosecution that can and should get him disbarred

He wasn’t arrested for stating his opinion on Facebook... he was arrested for making a possible phone call to mosque and threatening t blow it up. Case closed.

I saw no mention of that in the linked article.

Facebook and Twitter have a simple “block” function if you don’t like what someone posts to you. Then they can never post to you again, unless you choose to UN-block them for some reason. The block or ignore types of function should be the sole recourse on social media, unless something falls under defamation law.

I actually used to post under mine own name here and elsewhere. Jim knows my name, address, and even has my credit card as I am a supporting member. Really have no issue with it. I don’t post anything that I would say to family, friends, or anyone else. I am 100% owner of my company, wish I could fire myself for a day off. Anyway, my point is more of the extreme garbage that people post where they likely wouldn’t if they had their name on it—think of the Antifa terrorists who almost 100% get fired when they get outed.

Or of course, serious threats etc. But point is that Leftards should not be creating new legal precedents for b.s. charges.

I did a quick Google search. I see what you were saying in your post #45 now.

It seems like this guy was arrested on a felony charge of threatening to blow up a mosque. But from the linked article below: “A year later, however, there is significant evidence suggesting police may have charged the wrong man... Prosecutors have persisted in their case against Feigin despite dwindling and contradictory evidence, CNN found.”

The arrest I posted about is not related to that charge (unless one thinks that maybe CA wants to get him, one way or the other).

I hate when I say but don't type the word not. Recurring problem. Sorry!

People used to laugh and poke fun at me for painting over stars on my flags.

I symbolically remove New York, New Jersey, California, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

They aren’t America. Literally, NYC isn’t America and those in NY who aren’t literally up in arms aren’t Americans so I suppose they are either invading US Soil or the entire state is just another country now.

Anonymous speech is essential to a Free Society. I really do not care what anyone has to say, it is my duty as a citizen to be educated to figure out what is true or not.

Now I’m being as serious as a heart attack.

Do you think those putting up anti-government posters in Iran, should be “held accountable for what they say”? I’m sure you would agree with me in saying of course not.

In certain circumstances, yes anonymity can be necessary, but end of day it cannot be an excuse for lawlessness, harassment, criminal behavior, stalking, intimidation, and just plain boorish and uncivilized behavior or discourse. And consider that the situation in Iran and entirely different than in the US. We have a stable, legit government, constitutional rights, and a civilized environment where no one fears for their life if they are to speak their mind. When’s the last time someone was executed for speaking up? Jailed? That’s the point of our criticism of California’s ridiculous and unconstitutional law. Hiding behind anonymity undermines the basic argument that the law is wrong and unnecessary. The line in the sand is different here than in Iran.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”
