McDonald's to kick off Dollar Menu this week, priming it for massive growth in 2018
CNBC ^ | January 2, 2018 | Sarah Whitten

McDonald's looks pretty golden-headed into 2018.

The combination of McDonald's planned rollout of fresh, never-frozen beef, its recent relaunch of its Dollar Menu and woes at other restaurant chains could help the restaurant boost its same-store sales and grab more market share in the industry.

The burger giant's stock ended 2017 up more than 41 percent, the largest stock move in the restaurant industry during the year, and more than one analyst is calling for more gains in the new year.

It might have been beef; it just wasn’t so ‘fresh’ that you’d slap it.

There is nothing found at Mickey D’s to make dining enjoyable. When a server has lost the ability to make great fries, why go back for more?

If we’re talking about wedge fries, then yes they are restaurant fries.

I’m talking about fries that are square cut, but they are about 2.0 times the width (on a side) of the McDonald’s fries.

You can find them at other fast food places, and some small stands have them.

The good news is there will be a fast food price war.
Those here who don’t like McDonalds will get better deals
at the other fast food restaurants they like...
Thanks to McDonalds leading the way.

I haven’t bought anything but coffee from them in years.

Same here. If they brought their French Fries I might stop in.

I love Mickey D’s.

When I was a kid, we would go after church every Sunday morning for breakfast. Happy memories and better food than my mom’s!!!

No problem.

Burger King changed their fries to make them last longer, and it destroyed them > IMO.

They instantly became about half as tasty as they had been.

Perhaps McDonald’s has gone to that format in some of their units. I would agree with you if that’s what happened.

Well you have me beat. We didn’t have McDonalds. Our 10 cent burger joints were Smaks and another called Griffs.

I’m 61 now and still hit mcDonalds a few times a month, hard to deny my 9 yr old.

My step-dad had an early 1900s photo of a bar, eatery. Looked like a bar in the photo.

On the wall was a burger sign for a nickle.

Hey I can’t deny my inner child either.

Would I eat that food all the time? No. On occasion it’s good for the soul.

The change in fat occurred years ago, early 90s,when they stopped using beef tallow(lard) and switched to vegetable oil.

Sad-—they were AWESOME.

When I was a kid, we would go after church every Sunday morning for breakfast. Happy memories and better food than my mom’s!!! LOL, you got me thinking of the Eddie Murphy routine....

And the other kids got McDonald's. They outside going, "We got McDonald's hamburgers. "McDonald's. McDonald's. "I got McDonald's."

And you standing there with this big "house burger".

And kids are honest. They say, "Where you get that big, welfare, green-pepper burger?"

And you cry. "My mother made it."

We have 1 local McDonalds here, not any other fast food burgers for 100 miles. Luckily they have adapted to use the local Kobe style beef:

Bring back McRib!

And the little hot sauce packet.

I have had good barbecue. The McRib is not good barbecue. But in it's own way it is a good what ever it is.

They had a steak sandwich that was pretty good too.

My first real job was at the 2nd McDonald’s in Maine. For lunch I was allowed 2 hamburgers, a small fry and a soda. (I think that the burgers were 13 cents then.) On rare occasions when I go to McD’s I still get the 2 burgers and fries, but usually with coffee.

Mrs. NHD likes the vanilla shakes.
