Trump ups the ante on immigration deal to avoid shutdown
American Thinker ^ | 01/03/2018 | Rick Moran

Donald Trump has drawn a line in the sand on deal to keep the government operating past January 19.  Democrats are demanding that Trump address the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program, which would legalize hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.  They say they won't vote to fund the government past the January 19 deadline unless DACA provisions are included.

Trump has upped the ante by making funding the border wall part of the deal, as well as the elimination of "chain migration" and the visa lottery.  Trump is making the Democrats pay a heavy price for DACA by tying his approval to the continuing resolution to fund the government.

Bloomberg:

"The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc," the president wrote on Friday.  "We must protect our Country at all cost!"  On Tuesday he added, "Democrats are doing nothing for DACA – just interested in politics."

"it’s the tax payers and everyday USofA citizens being harmed, negatively effected and paying the heaviest prices."

Yep! There are at least two huge costs to the taxpayers associated with education: Financial and quality.

How much money is spent on government indoctrination centers where multiple languages are spoken?

In addition, 20-years ago our government indoctrination centers were turning out a product that was 80%-to-90% morons.

Now 80%-to-90% of the output are sub-morons who cannot even speak English.

If illegal, then none of the illegal invaders should be allowed to stay, either. Ignorance of the law is no defense. :-)

It seems to me that perhaps a “qualified” amnesty could be put into place. Certainly, no voting for 25 years, no entitlements, payback all costs incurred to this point in time, formal apology to the US for their illegal acts, no this, no that.., but they can stay here. Bed them down along the new border wall. :-)

This sounds a lot like the moderate posts on FR, including my own posts. I would prefer to deport every illegal and every refugee - no exceptions. However, if we can get a permanent end to chain migration (which President Trump has been keeping inn the news recently) and if we can get an end to the visa lottery, and if we can get funding to build the Wall, it’s probably worthwhile.

If the deal is temporary DACA residency with no path to citizenship, contingent on the Wall being funded and built, that’s a good deal for America. I’m even okay with permanent legal status for those DACA criminals, once the Wall is built and the rest of the illegals are deported. It’s not perfect, but it’s a whole lot better than any other deal I can imagine McConnell negotiating for us. Until we get that deal though, I’d like to see President Trump accelerate the rate of deportations for all illegals, including DACA.

Beware DACA...It is billed as 800,000 eligible, but I am reading it is more like 3 million eligible right off the bat. And going by past amnesties and rolling protected status for Haitians, Caribbeans, Central Americans etc..... You will see immigration lawyers suing up the yin yang to expand DACA after it is passed. Expand it for those who filed late and all kind of assorted BS stories.

Ronald Reagan’s amnesty rumbled on for at least 12 years after it was signed into law, as immigration lawyers tried and succeeded in getting all kinds of late comers included and amnestied. At least 300,000 got included late. A thousand million sob stories came in a tidal wave.

And today there are hundreds of thousands more immigration lawyers to spin their evil webs.
_______________
IF DACA PASSES THEN DEMOCRATS WILL START PRESSURING TO INCLUDE ALL 3 MILLION “DREAMERS”

This is the second time the mayors have sent the letter to Congress. They first sent it back in October, shortly after the Trump Administration stopped approving applications for Pres. Obama’s unconstitutional DACA executive amnesty. The letter goes beyond asking for an amnesty for the 700,000 DACA recipients, however, and urges Congress to pass an amnesty for all Dreamers. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that an amnesty for all Dreamers would go to roughly 3 million illegal aliens.

He won’t sign amnesty but he will sign a DACA bill if Congress gives him one.

Probably what Trump is aiming for. He’ll get 75% of that.

When he specifically used the word DACA, he was reasonably favorable.

A friend is a Fed DOD research type ... he informs me that it’s actually illegal for him to be physically present in his lab or office during a shutdown. BUT ... his first day back on the job is just astonishingly productive. ;’}

There are at least 800,000 dreamers that will be granted whatever rights they get. There will be no, oh sorry, your DACA expired....add in their families and you’re talking 4 million or so.

To reduce those numbers to 100,000 is fantasy.

Same thing they said about Trump reducing the size of government about winning states he couldn’t win, blah, blah.

So, bye.

That’s a bad analogy.

No one is saying Trump is going to reduce DACA to 100,000, except you. On the contrary, Trump has said he’s going to take care of DACAs.

I’m not attacking you. I just seriously doubt your 100,000 claim.

Since DACA is already stopped (ie no new DACA-ites), are you meaning that the existing DACA-ites who have registered will still be here (minus criminals, etc)? Or that the DACA thing will be opened up again?

I was under the impression that as of September (IIRC) 5, there will be no new DACA applications taken and only those already registered would be considered. That stays as is, right?

I could tolerate only the existing legitimate [sic] DACA-ites staying if there are NO new ones, and NO chain migration.

Not gonna happen that way.

I agree it won't happen that way but it should.

Some Congressman at least raised the possibility that they are committing a crime and might need to be prosecuted.

I get it. We differ.

Just watch. Sessions’ marijuana laws are specifically designed to saddle dreamers with criminal records they wouldn’t already have.
