The United States administration froze a $125 million grant to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the UN’s agency for “Palestinian refugees”, which was supposed to be delivered on January 1, Channel 10 News reported on Friday, citing three Western diplomats.
The amount frozen is one-third of the annual funding the United States provides the organization, according to the report.
The three diplomats, who asked to remain anonymous because of the political sensitivity of the issue, told Channel 10 the grant had been frozen until the end of the reexamination of U.S. aid to the Palestinians, which began in recent days. According to the diplomats, officials in the administration have informed UN officials in the past two days that President Donald Trump is considering cutting this amount completely and could even increase the cut to $180 million, which would be half the total U.S. funding for UNRWA.
The cutting in the UN funding to UNRWA is a U.S. sanction against the organization, which has come under strong criticized from both the United States and Israel, as well as against the Palestinian Arabs, in an attempt to pressure them to renew peace talks with Israel.
News of the freezing of the grant came as a meeting took place in the White House discussing the cutting of aid to the Palestinian Authority and to UNRWA.
The meeting followed Trump's tweets earlier this week in which he expressed doubt over the usefulness of American aid to the Palestinians, given their refusal to resume peace talks with Israel.
The United States is the largest single donor to UNRWA, providing approximately a fourth of the organization's budget.

Only one third? I’d say cut them off completely. I will bet you that a large portion of this money goes to helping the Palis kill Israelis, or to pay “martyrs” families for the “untimely deaths” of their jihadi kids.

Understand that UNRWA is separatly defined as to who a refugee is than the UN.....it’s outdated to be sure!
In UNRWA the US contributes most of their funding about $300 million annually...
UNRWA defines refugees entirely differently than the UN..... A Palestinian “refugee” is ‘any person’ whose “normal place of residence was Palestine during the period 1 June 1946 to 15 May 1948 and who lost both home and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 conflict.”
So UNRWA counts as “refugees” any local Arab who lived in Palestine for as little as two years, knowing that scores of Arabs immigrated to the area during those years in search of employment amid talks of creating a future Jewish state.
UNRWA states that “Palestine refugees are persons who fulfill the above definition and descendants of fathers fulfilling the definition.”....... This means that even if original Palestinian “refugees” long ago immigrated to another country and became citizens of that country, they and their descendants are still considered “refugees” according to UNRWA.
The definition flies in the face of what a refugee is supposed to be. It is also in direct contrast to the Convention on Refugees, which dictates that a person who “has acquired a new nationality, and enjoys the protection of the country of his new nationality” is exempted from the status of refugee.
UNRWA’s Annual Report of the Director from July 1951-June 1952 acknowledges it was difficult to separate “ordinary nomadic Bedouins and … unemployed or indigent local residents” from genuine refugees, and that “it cannot be doubted that in many cases individuals who could not qualify as being bona fide refugees are in fact on the relief rolls.
We need to cut this entirely.

You’re right.... BreitBart has a great article on this .....which explains how outdated this ‘separate’ refugee organization is and well past out of date.
So one wonders that all these years of contributing to basically people who have moved or died yet still counted in the numbers........you just know this is yet another scamming of the US.

ONE FOURTH? What with there being something on the order of 180 plus “countries” in the UN, how in the world do we get to be the “funder in chief” for virtually every anti-american “agency” in the UN? And we have to borrow the money we provide from the Chinks. $hit, we’re probably using borrowed Chink money to fund our “naval blockade” of North Korea. It is sheer lunacy that has been at the controls of our “government” for fifty years or more. It would be important at this juncture to have someone aggregate all the non-US “expenditures” this country is making today to show us just what a major impact it has on our annual budget an wave it in front of the populace.
My bet is that most, if not all of these so-called “agencies” within the UN are simply artifices to extract money from the coffers of the United States to be given to undeserving “$hit hole countries” under the table.
And this would be a bad thing why??
