I remember during the 1990’s Americans were talking about how little money teachers made considering the daunting task they had to do. Now it seems they-are a convenient foil for the failure of administration.

Would across-the-board pay increases get us better teachers?

Not necessarily, but it wouldn’t hurt to make that profession more economically feasible, or just give them the respect they deserve.

Just pointing out how far the perception of teachers has fallen over the last 25 years. Administration is failing in their duty to parents and students much more than teachers whilst teachers take the brunt of the blame.

Who said she wasn’t? Do you know French Creole culture? Did you know that African French fusion names are interchangeable across race? Do you even know what a Parrish is? Have you ever been to Louisiana?

As a matter of fact, I do know a little bit about these things. I’ve been a Louisiana resident my entire life. Lived and educated in uptown New Orleans from nursery school through graduate school. Now I work here. And I’m no longer a young man, either.

Any other condescending bluster you care to burp out?

I forgot to mention that my ancestors here were plantation owners on the Mississippi River since before the American revolution.

What are your credentials, Tex?

We did so in Douglas county Colorado. The next election the teachers unions spent millions of dollars including out of state money to take the school board back. Its not as easy as you think.

The problem is teachers. The teachers who vote for contracts that have unaffordable health bennies and pensions. They view taxpayers as cash cows. And I am SICK of it.

I watched the video. As far as I can tell she, the teacher respectfully raised her and asked a legitimate question as to the superintendent’s contract and raise which was part of the contract to which the school board was voting on. The chair recognized her. She made her point but was IMO respectful and made IMO a good point whether or not one agreed with her.

Whoever the person who said “this is not a question and answer session” was way out of line. What is the point of having a public meeting if not to allow people to ask questions and get answers? And she wasn’t the only teacher or parent to speak out regarding the superintendent’s raise.

It seems to me that the majority of school board had already decided to give the superintendent the big raise and wasn’t interested in whatever anyone had to say about it, teachers or parents in attendance. So why bother having a public meeting if the public is not allowed to speak?

And there was no reason whatsoever that I saw that she should have been handcuffed and arrested for raising her hand, being called on, and recognized and asking a legitimate follow up question. And the marshal was way out of line, not only in arresting her but doing so without being directly asked to do so as she was not disrupting the meeting but only asking a followup question to which she had been recognized to do.

This was IMO an egregious violation of her 1st amendment rights.

You know.... I got to thinking.... my state is different. In Oklahoma we have over 500 school districts. Each with a school board. A school board election in this state most often has less than 1000 votes cast. Way less most often. I probably made my statement living in a bubble.

Well, now, if what you boast is true, then you should have KNOWN BETTER, shouldn't you have? Instead, you're obviously presumptuous, obnoxious, and certainly not very bright. Just like a garden variety liberal, you saw "race" and reacted emotionally. Sorry that your little feelers are now hurt, but I couldn't care less about your family lineage.
