Two anonymous sources who were briefed on the meeting rather than actually being there? Quoted in the relentlessly anti-Trump Washington Post? And we should believe this why?
I doubt he said it but I wish he had. Because I've said it.
Notice how WaPo follows the quote with the names of two actual Senators, hoping that readers will think that they are the ones quoting PDJT. These writers are word experts. Too bad they use their skill for disinformation.
While people tend to hyperventilate about the wide-spread IC surveillance and spying on all US citizens - not just Trump - they are ignoring the precedent that can now be utilized by Trump to spy on/frame/plant evidence and black-mail the opposition.
In a post-constitutional word, power is achieved through control of legal government mechanisms. In this kind of environment, the key is to hold control; all else is useless noise. Rather than cry over the end of a lawful republic, we should be cheering that at least our side "won". (I mean, it happened anyway; at this point, we should be damned glad it wasn't PIAPS.)
With Trump in full control over every arm & mechanism of US power - both foreign & domestic, he can say/do whatever the hell he wants without fear of repercussion. Blue wave in 2018? Don't make me laugh - just wait for the leaks and smears of any/all opposition candidates.
If Trump plays this right, the left could be on the defensive for 50+ years.
Both Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham were at this meeting. One would think we would have heard from them if Trump had actually said this.
