In Nassau County, an Influx of Democrats Threatens a G.O.P. Stronghold (From 2013)

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — With a pivotal local election looming in the fall, the Republican-controlled Nassau County Legislature recently approved new district lines that could help the party secure at least two more seats.

A local Republican club has increased its campaign chest tenfold over the last two years, bringing in individual contributions of tens of thousands of dollars from a family paving company, a real estate developer and other donors with business before the county, according to disclosure records.

And if past elections are any guide, the party can also turn for campaign help to workers from the county’s special tax districts, which handle services like water and sewage. Most are run by loyal commissioners.

The party is marshaling its forces because it is facing an unprecedented challenge in the postwar era: a deluge of Democrats.

Rats invade nice areas, bringing their misbegotten voting habits with them, drive out good people and ruin the neighborhood.

I didn’t give the rag a hit either.

From what was said here, it seems the Republicans are doing fine.

Nassau County went for Clinton. The neighboring county to the east went for Trump. NYC to the west obviously went for Clinton. Staten Island (1 of 5 NYC boroughs) was a blowout for Trump.

The former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, retired after corruption charges. He couldn’t have won reelection.

Democrat Laura Curran succeeded him in November.

In New York, the Republicans are just as corrupt as the Democrats. Its just a matter of whose trough gets the slop for their pigs.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y ...
I grew up in West Hempstead in the 50s and 60s and didn't know a single minority.

I left Baldwin, NY in Nassau County in 2004. When I first moved there in 1986 it was heavy Republican.

Apparently no longer. Lots of illegals and gangs too. Such a pretty place is being swallowed up by trash.

Yes,the Dems dropped a lot of minorties in Nassau in the last 25 years. However, the Republicans are corrupt and the patronage is killing the taxpayers.

Most likely. Suburban Nassau County is now turning towards suburban white hipsters.
