Sanctuary cities in the 21st Century of forming a Confederacy.

Charging these sanctuary city leaders is no different than JFK’s actions towards Democratic Alabama Governor, George Wallace.

In the 1960s, the U.S. Justice Department did not file criminal charges against obstructionist Southern governors like George Wallace or Ross Barnett. Nor were Federal criminal charges filed against local officials like Bull Connor or Leander Perez. They did go after Ku Klux Klan leaders and members, who were lower echelon people, as well as attempting to imprison General Edwin Walker, who led anti-integration riots at Oxford, Mississippi, via involuntary commitment to a mental hospital.

If Homeland Security really acts, they will likely go after the most flagrant leftists at lower echelons of government, possibly in some place like Berkeley known for leftist extremism. Arresting Jerry Brown or the mayors of Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco could trigger an insurrection. 50-60 years ago, arresting Southern governors for flouting Federal law could have triggered another secession crisis. In any case, Wallace and the others backed down when faced with the regular Army and the federalized National Guard.
