I HATE that Republicans are in this can of worms. Ok so some of the districts look silly in many states. Democrats could have a case in Maryland but Republicans don’t complain. Frustrating.

Yup, there is nothing like my district in Maryland. Nothing. Absolutely ludicrous.

Someone needs to enshrine in law that boundaries must conform to some sort of reasonable geometrical shaping.

I’m not ruling out fake news on this. Is there any indication that the gerrymandered district illustrated is the Republican’s doing? How long had it been in effect?

Maryland gerrymandered after the 2010 census to reduce Republicans from 2 to 1 seats of the 8 in the state as well.

The Democrats did the dirty work down there.

Both parties do it and the map here in PA was gerrymandered.

The only reason the districts looks silly is the Voting Rights Act.

Seat or seats get drawn for the minority district, then all of the other districts have to be drawn in around the crazy district.

In Louisiana, the district is Congressional District 2 - the Happy face district.

It runs from New Orleans to Baton Rouge with a strip in between.

Once the requirement of the voting rights act is met, all of the other districts have to be drawn around this crazy district.

The Dems are just now trying to remind that act through other means. You will notice that this decision pays no never mind to the voting rights act.

The Penn Supremes are exceeding their authority - giving ridiculous time tables and making strange demands.

This whole mess is a byproduct of civil rights rulings that require minority representation in congress. As districts are drawn to guarantee certain minority outcomes, the concentration of reliable democrat votes dilutes democrat representation in the remaining districts.
