In trying to avoid a national anthem controversy, the NFL has sparked a national anthem controversy.
The league is under fire again for rejecting a Super Bowl advertisement from a veterans group that urged people to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The league invited American Veterans (AMVETS) to place a one-page ad for the Super Bowl LII program, and the completed submission included an American flag alongside the words, “#PleaseStand.” The ad will not run, which now has AMVETS crying censorship.
“Freedom of speech works both ways,” AMVETS national commander Marion Polk wrote in a letter to commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday. “We respect the rights of those who choose to protest as these rights are precisely what our members have fought — and in many cases died — for. But imposing corporate censorship to deny that same right to those veterans who have secured it for us all is reprehensible and totally beyond the pale.”

They continue to dig a still deeper hole.
I may have been wobbling on whether to watch the game, but I am standing up now.
I wish I was a football fan so I could make a change and “not” watch this game.
But I never watch them...
The NFL is a circus where the clowns wear numbers on their shirts.
And despite the fact that the word “invited” is used, the cost to AMVET would have been $30K to place the ad!
A lot of the clowns in the NFL wear suits and ties.
Me too, if I were a football fan I would rather watch sycronized swimming than an NFL game.
This game might be a ratings stinker outside of New England and Philadelphia. Between the arrogance of the Patriots and the thuggish behavior of the Philadelphia fans, I kind of hope nobody wins.
unbelievable how tone deaf the NFL is. Roger Goodell is apparently so powerful that he can’t be sacked.
I simply turned it all off. I dont care who plays. I dont care who wins . I do not watch.
And the nfl certainly airs plenty of ads with a leftist liberal socialist slant...screw the felon league....

Well when you make 50 mil a year PLUS free healthcare you pretty much don't don't give a crap what anyone thinks.
Somebody listed that the most hate filled teams are Seahawks, 49ers, Dolphins, Giants, and Oakland Raiders.
Then there are creeps such as Kansas City Chiefs' Marcus Peters and Tenn. Titans' Richard Matthews who reportedly have such resentment for this country that they remain in the tunnel while the anthem is played. Peters and Matthews just cannot stand to hear the anthem.
I’ve never know there to be less excitement and enthusiasm over a super bowl.
I don’t know anyone watching it and most people don’t even seem bothered.

I am going to try to avoid the game. Wifey likes parties, so she may force me to attend a SB event.
They’re history in my home.
