For weeks, Garrison Keillor's initial belief that he was "fired" from Minnesota Public Radio last November for simply touching "a woman's bare back" hung in the air, tempting his biggest fans with the hope that perhaps the creator of "A Prairie Home Companion" had been wrongly accused.
"In the allegations she provided to MPR, she did not allege that Garrison touched her back, but did claim that he engaged in other unwanted sexual touching," MPR president Jon McTaggart said in the letter. He later said that "the woman's attorney presented us with a 12-page letter detailing many of the alleged incidents, including excerpts of emails and written messages, requests for sexual contact and explicit descriptions of sexual communications and touching."

The article describes "a years long pattern of behavior that left several women who worked for Keillor feeling mistreated, sexualized or belittled."
For instance, MPR News reported that Keillor "wrote and publicly posted in his bookstore an off-color limerick about a young woman who worked there and the effect she had on his state of arousal" in 2012. Others described a "harmful" power dynamic in Keillor's consensual relationships with women who worked with him.

As much as I loathe Keillor and his awful worldview, my question with these is always “so, he didn’t force women to have sex with him to get their jokes on air like Davide Letterman did?” Seriously, why is Letterman still treated like some kind of secular saint in the media when we KNOW that he had a bed in his office at the Ed Sullivan theater where he bedded women ON HIS STAFF specifically BECAUSE he had power over them. I don’t see how that isn’t the very definition of a man abusing his power over women in the workplace.

I'm sure it seemed funny at the time, but knowing the power he held over them and what else he was doing with them backstage renders these now creepy videos unwatchable.

There was nothing damning in the excerpt. I guess it must be deeper in the article.
What struck me the most during these annual exposures to "Prairie Home Companion" was how similar they were to the ones in past years. Keillor had a significant staff of writers, editors, producers, and now apparently girl friends, who did nothing but support his shows. Yet, the shows were allways the same. He would replay, apparently endlessly his song "We're all Republicans now", He would have some kind of folk singer play a couple of songs on a guitar, and then he would wax, endlessly, on some liberal cause. There was nothing, ever, new!
I compare this to the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Rush has more original content from hour to hour than Keillor had from year to year. And that's without a staff of dozens to create it. Bye bye Keillor. I won't miss you.

Number two is Letterman was sort of like a cult leader. He had power over the women who worked for him, but it wasn't just entirely a matter of his power of position.
The story didn't make the news because the woman involved wanted it made public, but because her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend was trying to get money out of Letterman.
If more women go public and say Letterman was abusive, the story will pick up momentum, even though Letterman's been off the air for years, but if nobody's making new complaints public then it stays a non-story for the media.
