Halt support for Syrian Kurds or risk confrontation, Turkey warns U.S.
Ahval ^ | Jan 25, 2018 | Bekir Bozdag, quoted

“Those who support the terrorist organization (SDF) will become a target in this battle,” Reuters quoted Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Bekir Bozdağ as saying.

“The United States needs to review its solders and elements giving support to terrorists on the ground in such a way as to avoid a confrontation with Turkey,” Bozdağ said.

I do not believe these threats from our "NATO ally", Turkey, will resonate well at all with our Executive or our military.

And here either.

I said it already on these forums and I will say it again: The U.S. should recognize the Kurds and their drive for Kurdish Independence. Frak the Turks. In fact, dare the Turks to actually confront us.....

Wow Turkey how dumb are you? They sure get a lot of military aid... lot of F16’s they purchased. Would be a shame if they couldn’t get anything from us anymore. I mean the Russians absolutely HATE them as well.

I don’t approve of our NATO “ally” threatening us, but I also don’t approve of military support for Syrian Kurds. We either (1) overthrow Assad because we are confident of success and have a better option who will then take power, or (2) stay out of Syria. Clearly, we don’t have a better option.

The problem? Assad would have been ended under Obama but for ineptness and because of the Russians, IRGC and Quds. The Iranians and some of their surrogate imports are probably 80% of Assads forces.

Trump redirected the effort to end ISIS and has largely succeeded with the Kurds and SDF help.

Assad is no longer in control, Iran is.

That won’t vanish, even if we left. Same in Iraq.

He was solidifying his power and control. Out the window went his military effectiveness.

He will never rebuild it. The Kemalist might be able to. They are not much better than Erdogan when you look at it honestly. They do Genocide, that which Erdogan wants to do now. He wants to kill the Kurds in N. Syria and settle Turkmen and some Chinese there. Only problem is, Kurds will not allow it to happen. They are armed, will fight and have seen this script before. They are not dummies.

I was asked that before. Was it by you?

Answer then? No, Greece is a basket case and will never be a major influence in the Region again.

They are good people, but economically they are crippled. And defense wise it suffers from that.

Yeah. And it also would be a shame if replacement parts for those Turkish F16’s were somehow defective.
