13,000 percent inflation. Now that is hyperinflation. Hopefully the Venezuelans will start printing bank notes with more zeroes so they can become collection items.

If prices double every seven weeks (about what IMF is predicting), people will be reluctant to accept currency at all and no one will hold it. That gives you a barter economy with no investment at all. In other words, Venezuela will experience the natural result of socialism.

On a plus side, they can use the bank notes as a replacement for the lack of available toilet paper.

https://dolartoday.com lists the unofficial exchange rate (which is illegal to publish in Venezuela) as between 260,000 and 280,000 bolivars per dollar. The official exchange rate is still a solid 10 bolivars per dollar. 25,000 times off from reality is huge even compared to California estimated railroad costs.
