I look at the trailers, and theyre all black, 100% black actors and I think- is this what black people see when they look at a Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter movie? Wow. Shoe on other foot
Actually yes, at least for me. Period pieces it makes sense for some movies to be all white but fantasy or scifi? The villain here is white but the film does take place in Africa after all.
There’s a reason for that. The movie is set in the Black Panther’s home country, in Africa. There are going to be maybe 4 white guys in the whole film: Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaue), maybe Chris Evans (Capt. America), Martin Freeman (SHIELD Agent Everett Ross), and maybe Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier). And Capt America and Winter Soldier will be little more than cameos, and may not show up until the stinger at the end.
Then rich black actors and athletes should fund and produce black only movies
” Wow. Shoe on other foot.”
I enjoy all the Marvel movies. They are fun, fast and entertaining. I don’t want to think about a message or ponder some complex plot and subplot thematics.
What I don’t want to do, is sit through two-plus hours of some social justice virtue signaling, the predictable conservative cum white bashing, and a host of other simplistic diversity memes.
I will watch the movie. I will expect Marvel to produce something worthwhile.
But, if there is a U-turn and Marvel incorporates something that has not been present in other superhero movies they have produced, watch out for bad reviews.
Lord of the Rings was a universal theme of good vs evil and no SJW nonsense.
Simply put, I do not trust the current atmosphere at all.
Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis are black!? Who knew?
Good God, people, a movie about Africans that has a lot of black people in it? Why should this bother ANY of us?
