This is the bizarre moment a radio studio descended into chaos when two guests began fighting about Joseph Stalin.
A studio webcam caught how a physical altercation broke out while Nikolai Svanidze, 62, and Maksim Shevchenko, 51, discussed Stalin's role in World War II.
Mr Svanidze, a TV and radio presenter, said the communist leader was responsible for the terrible condition the Soviet Union was in by the end of the war.
Mr Shevchenko, a journalist, praised Stalin's leadership of the USSR. He contrasted the situation in the USSR with that of France during the same period
He said: 'By late 1941 we had 3.8 million people as prisoners of war and this is all thanks to Stalin.'
Mr Shevchenko said: 'Unlike France, the USSR did not kneel down to Germans. The Soviet Union was fighting.' The discussion then turned personal, with the pair slinging insults at one another. Mr Svanidze said: 'If you had been closer I would have punched you in the face.' Mr Shevchenko replied: 'Please, go ahead, I am here! Punch me in the face. Get up and do it.' Mr Svanidze got out of his chair and slapped him around the face before being punched twice by Mr Shevchenko. The host of the Radio Rubka show on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station can be seen desperately trying to restore calm in a video of the incident.
The video, posted on the station's YouTube channel, shows how staff had to step in to separate the pair.
The video has now received more than 300,000 views and almost 5,000 comments.

The Soviet Union defeated the Nazis in spite of Stalin, and also because we provided them with the supplies to do it. Stalin even admitted as much.
The Soviet Union won the war despite Stalin too. 3 years before the war he purged his entire officer corps. When the war came there was nobody with any real experience. For the first 2 weeks of Barbarossa, the Nazi invasion of the USSR, Stalin couldn’t make a decision to save his (or his countries) ass. Stalin was good at throwing “flesh waves” at the Germans, giving every third man a rifle and telling the ones without to grab a rifle off a dead soldier when he fell. You want strategy? Look to people like Marshal Zhukov. Incidentally, Stalin hated Zhukov because he was as popular as Stalin himself. It was only that fame that kept Stalin from killing him.

And then there was Leningrad, a city Stalin always hated. He would have let the Nazis destroy the city if he could.
After the war, he had many of the heroes of Leningrad executed.
And I still believe Stalin let Hitler have his way in the areas of the Soviet Union where the Jews primarily lived, knowing that Hitler would take care of Stalin’s “Jewish Problem.”
Stalin was with the Nazis before he was against the Nazis. In his defense though, who would have thought that Hitler would be foolish enough to invade Russia? Thank God he did though.
People go on about Hitler, and rightfully so. But compared to Stalin, Hitler was a boy scout.

And Marshal Zhukov won his initial fame in the Soviet Far East against the Japanese in the Battle of Khalkhin Gol, where his innovative use of tactics beat back the Japanese. Those same tactics in an upgraded form proved vital in beating back the Germans from 1943 on, and Stalin—despite his disdain for Zhukov—had to rely on this General right to the end of World War II.
That would explain the fate of Odessa. Odessa had a large Jewish population. Lyudmila Pavlichenko was from Odessa too.

I maintain the Nazis could have one, if they tried to ‘divide and conquer’...many originally welcomed the Nazis as ‘liberators’.
There was even Vlasov’s army that offered to fight on the side of the Germans, but Hitler didn’t want that. Probably as well, because even if Hitler did manage to defeat the Soviet Union, certainly they would have faced severe resistance after it from the Russians.
And I think we very well could have seen a scenario where the Communists were overthrown if Hitler had taken Moscow, but ultimately Russia would win. That would have been the best-case scenario, Bolsheviks and Nazis out of the picture.

Hitler and Stalin greatly admired each other. Hitler said it was such a shame that someone like Stalin had to be his enemy rather than his partner.
Trivia fact: what was Zhukov’s favorite beverage? (Other than vodka). It was Coca-Cola! The Coke company made a special clear version that came in nondescript bottles and was capped with a red star bottle cap, so as not to be seen drinking a decadent capitalist product.

Just so you guys know, there are two viral versions on youtube with thousands of comments and...so far I see that the majority of people side with the Pro-Stalin guy.
You can thank two decades of Vladimir Putin for this and all his efforts to rehabilitate Stalin’s image and gloss over the Second World War as purely a “Great Patriotic Victory” narrative. (And any deviation from this narrative be damned!)
Even in the latter decades of the Soviet Union, Stalin was not defended nor justified by the population to the extent he is now.

Shevchenko does not defend Stalin, he talks about the fact that history needs to be studied and drawn conclusions, and not to smear black as Ebanidze.
If you notice, all the scumbags-manipulators (these are not any liberals) on the proposal to bring facts / documents to which they rely, begin to hysterical. In this case, no single historical document can not be shown.
Thus, the aim of the scum is to blacken the history of Russia in any way. They have no other task. But those who give these scum to use the aether of the central channels, are themselves scum. It does not matter under which sauce to serve gov ... oh, gov ... oh, it remains. No matter what “good” intentions are covered by those who invite to the transfer of scoundrels, they are also accomplices of scum.

Nikolai Svanidze is distantly related to Kato Svanidze, Stalin's first wife.
His own grandfather, Kato's cousin, died in the purges.
Kato died at 22, but another cousin of hers was interviewed about her when she was 109 years old.
I don’t understand the context. I was certain that the word “brawl” was plural for “teen”. Does it have more than one meaning?
