House Speaker Paul Ryan has no plans to remove Rep. Devin Nunes as chair of the House Intelligence Committee Chairman, and said he endorses a committee vote to release a memo Nunes wrote alleging high-level FBI misconduct.
“It’s our job to shed light on that and bring accountability to the process,” Ryan told reporters on the second day of the GOP’s annual planning retreat in West Virginia.
Thursday morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called on Ryan to strip the gavel from Nunes, R-Calif., after he was accused by Democrats of altering the memo after the committee voted to release it.
Ryan denied the changes were made after the committee vote. He said it was scrubbed to ensure nothing in it revealed information that could compromise the FBI or national security.
He said Democrats were making the accusations to detract from the GOP’s major agenda accomplishments, particularly tax reform, which is helping to boost Republican approval numbers.
“I think they are just playing politics and I think they are looking for a political distraction,” Ryan said. “I think they would love nothing more than to play politics and change the subject.”
Lawmakers who have read the memo, which President Trump could be released tomorrow, said it implicates several high ranking FBI officials.
"I say let all of it out, as long as we are not revealing sources and methods," Ryan said.

At this point, Ryan maybe more afraid of the mob with tar and feathers than the corrupt state. You know his first instinct is to protect the swamp. Protect hillary and obama. Which is what he has done since he was sworn in speaker. Like Boner before him.

Yet another story that incorrectly implies or reports that President Trump is releasing the memo.
Uh, no.
It is the House’s memo. They, and only they, get to decide to release it.
The rules required giving the President 5 days to decide if he objected to it being released. (He has not objected, and will not.)
So it can now be released by the House, which is what they are planning to do on Friday.
Had the President objected, the full House could still vote to release it, over POTUS’ objection.
But the President is not the one who will release it, nor can he stop the House from deciding to release it over his objection.

The Republicans have known the Media is the enemy for at least 20 years. Heck, Nixon understood it in 1968.
Now, President Trump has shown them a way cut the Progressive Media shackles from off their feet.
Most old slaves don’t know what to do or want freedom. But a few hesitantly look around, and start acting on it.
If the tables were turned, the Democrats would be destroying the Republicans with something as explosive as this might be. They’d all over the news talking about the evil FBI, how the Republicans are stonewalling the release, etc....it would be like rolling thunder 24/7.
Instead, we have the Democrats speaking out putting our enough info to cast serious doubt about the validity of this memo. Meanwhile, Republicans are dilly dallying around, making changes, letting the Dems explain it away and what’s more is they are defensive about it now. Ryan is actually responding to Pelosi’s absurd request to toss Nunes of the committee??? Ryan needs to tell her to shut her pie hole.
I get the timing is important, but this is not Trumps best moment regardless of what his plan is. It’s turned into a circus.
Release the memo, fire or arrest the corrupt scumbags, get the rest of the rotten apples out of these agencies and get back to MAGA.
