Poll: 16% of NFL fans say they won't watch the Super Bowl

Super Bowl 52 is just a few days away, and after NFL regular season TV ratings fell by nearly 10% this season on average, one of the biggest questions pundits and sports media have is: Will the Super Bowl ratings be good?

If the results of a new survey from Seton Hall University are to be believed, the answer might be no.

Seton Hall surveyed 706 Americans across the country, via landlines and cellphones, from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31. The first question asked people how closely they follow the NFL. Of those who said they follow it "very closely," a group the survey identifies as NFL fans, 16% said they won't watch this year's Super Bowl. The poll has a 3.8% margin of error.

Only 16% will not watch. Meaning 84% are complete sheep who need to be red-pilled.

I watch for the commercials.

If you are on cable (and use a cable box) or will stream it online, let me suggest that you catch the commercials off-line on YouTube.

The "No Fans Left" league needs to be de-funded. The only way to do that is to reduce their ratings so they don't get the advertiser revenue.

V Grim Reaper Retweeted Clexa_Vatican City 🍍 Today’s reminder that unless you’re in a Nielsen family your viewing never has any effect on TV ratings. Never. Any. https://twitter.com/TVGrimReaper/status/827191902143340547

I’ll probably turn it on and watch the National Anthem. And, if any player on either team disrespects the flag I’m out. My prediction is that the Pats will stand and respect the flag during the National Anthem but a few on the Eagles will not; specifically Chris Long who is Howie Long’s baby boy. Howie must be very proud of him, sarc/

I have something more useful planned for my TV viewing:

I thought everybody watched for the commercials, since there is about 12-13 minutes of actual play in a 3.5 to 4 hour TV event. Before this kneeling crap started, I knew serious fans that stopped watching games in the traditional sense (actually sitting there ass down for 3.5/4 hours in front of the TV); they might watch shows with live highlights (of all games being played simultaneously), but the days of having sh!t (products and ideas) sold to them in over 3 hours of commercials were over.

I absolutely believe that - and if you have an internet connection they know the same thing. I remember Edward Snowden saying Americans thought some cellphone calls were recorded; he insisted ALL of them were.

Agreed. 16% is way too few, and too many of the remainder are people who are putatively on “our” side. I suppose it’s just too much for grown people to not watch a stupid tv show. I mean, there’s sacrifice for your country and then there’s sacrifice /s

I suppose there are events that are greater time-wasters than the stupid bowl but I can’t think of them at the moment. Needless to say, it won’t be on at our place.

Advertisers rely on Nielsen numbers.
They do not collect data from all cable providers in country.
