Strange that they’d use the scare quotes in the headline.

Russian flight procedures have always been a little bit suspect, especially winter operations.

Sad. I was born in Ukraine and would never get on a Ukraine-made plane.

Unfortunately it’s still a third world country. Equivalent to some African nations in many aspects. Some relatives still use outhouses.

I’ve called Eastern Europe “white Africa” before. Rich in resources but everything is stolen and 90% of people live in shitholes surrounded by gaudy gangsters.

I'd wager it isn't the plane that's the problem, it's the lack of proper maintenance. Maintenance costs money and takes revenue-generating aircraft out of the game.

There's reasons U.S. passenger jets don't crash like the used to. Adherence to rigid maintenance schedules is chief among them.

I've landed in Boryspil several times and I'll always chuckle at the Ukrainian passengers cheering exuberantly each time the aircraft safely touched down.

Of course. You should never fly on carriers that service planes in the third world.

Unfortunately if you are flying to Siberia your options are very limited

Oddly, witnesses usually say that even when the plane wasn’t burning.

No, it's strange that ConservativeStatement would use scare quotes in the headline.

That was how the original headline was shown on the BBC website. I didn’t alter in any way. There was likely a revised headline after the breaking news appeared.

No, the original BBC article had the quote marks in its headline. ConservativeStatement copied their headline accurately. They have been removed since the initial posting.

I will solve that problem the easy way. I will NEVER fly to Siberia. 😀👍

This is probably right. I fly to/from/in Russia a lot, and I would never fly on a carrier that isn't Aeroflot.
