Yes Obama made jokes about eating dog. I think it was at one of those correspondents dinners. And the media types there were ok with Obama, perhaps from personal experience, talking of eating dog.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Is there any particular breed of dog which tastes better than the others?

Killing and eating man’s best friend is disgusting. Period.

In Korea (and China) some of these dishes bizarre to Western sensibilities have a symbolic sense. If you eat dog, you’ll get the virtues of a dog. If you cat cat, you’ll get the virtues of a cat. Etc.

It would also depend on the dog’s diet.
I don’t think they care that much in Korea. It’s symbolic. They doubtless use enough spices to hide the street taste.
R.I.P. poor beat to death street dogs.

Telling them they can’t serve dog is like telling American Restaurants during an international event that involves a lot of muslims and orthodox jews that they can’t serve bacon.
i.e. it’s stupid.

In our culture, yes.
Ask an orthodox jew about Bacon, or a Hindu about hamburgers.

I dunno. I'm kind of hungry right now. A nice brace of barbecued chihuahuas would hit the spot.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition ate almost all their dogs and horses before they got to the Pacific.
