Exactly what gun law would have prevented this tragedy?
The one that says felons , the mentally ill, and people under restraining orders are prohibited from owning guns.
Unfortunately, none of these would have applied to Nikolas Cruz who despite 39 police contacts at his home and threats made on-line under his real name that he was going to shoot up a school, managed to avoid ever receiving any police record whatsoever.
