The end of coal power will help usher in a new era for renewable energy, said David Suzuki Foundation director of science and policy Ian Bruce. With conventional coal-fired power officially headed for the history books, people across the country can literally breathe easier about the future of energy production. This is yet another signal that dirty, outdated energy sources are on their way out, said the Foundations lead climate campaigner and senior policy analyst... Screw it. Canada doesn't need that much energy anyway. It's not like they need to heat homes or businesses. I mean, it's sunny all the time across Canada. And the wind never stops blowing. They get plenty of hydro generated power from all the raging rivers (besides Niagra). Hell, they should get rid of natural gas and petroleum generated power too. They don't need it, especially since wind and solar energy are so efficient. (sarcasm)

Just ask the towns of Chernobl and Fukashima about clean nuclear energy. Oh, wait, nobody lives there any more... nevermind...

They practical solution for Canadians who want to survive a winter with a “smart meter” is a good wood/coal stove & plenty of fuel.
Millions of unfiltered stoves spewing smoke into the air doesn’t seem as clean or efficient as a well built coal plant.
