Have any armed pilots prevented terrorist activity (or other crimes) on planes? Or is it just a psychological deterrent?
I recall that Norman Minetta (whom I call Nitwit Norm), then Secretary of Transportation, resisted implementing arming the pilots for months and that George W Bush failed to push the issue with him.
An unarmed man is a target.
No one has discussed disarming the educational bureaucracy from Federal on down, of its ideological, legal and managerial grip on local schools.
Why did no one act against Cruz, in spite of dozens of threats? Because it has become a frozen-in-amber bureaucracy.
Obama armed the Dept. of Education so where are all those weapons?
Good point, pass them out to the teachers. Won’t cost us anything other than the shipping cost. They obviously don’t need them.
Fat chance that is going to happen with liberal teachers, school boards made up of liberal teachers, liberal supported unions, and the NEA in operation determining the course content of education. Getting a gun on campus will be left up to the criminals. And they will have nothing to stop them. Obama thought he could with 23 executive orders after Sandy Hook. We see the result of that.

“Or is it just a psychological deterrent?”
A deterrent that works, regardless of form, still works.
Arming teachers doesnt provide jobs for Democrat voters.
Bush’s keeping Minetta on as Sec’y of DOT was the first of many disappointments that “W” made during his days as POTUS. A likable fellow, his claim to fame is that he prevented Al Gore and John ‘Effen Kerry out of the White hut. At least that’s something.
Would you storm a cockpit knowing that one or both of the pilots will shoot you dead in the doorway?
The program works.
That’s true. I was just curious.
