House Speaker Corcoran calls for sheriff’s suspension following Parkland shooting

Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran is asking Governor Rick Scott to suspend the Broward County Sheriff following the deadly mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School.

On Sunday, Corcoran posted a letter he sent to Gov. Scott on Twitter and said he believes Sheriff Scott Israel needs to be suspended due to “incompetence and dereliction of duty.” His letter is signed by 73 other Republican members of the Florida House.

“The failures of Sheriff Israel and his deputies during and after the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, and their failures to intervene regarding Nikolas Jacob Cruz in the years, months and days leading up to the shooting are unacceptable and unforgivable,” Corcoran says in his letter.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has faced backlash this past week after it was revealed that Deputy Scot Peterson, who was at the scene of the shooting, did not go into the school to confront the shooter. The office is also accused of mishandling “red flags” that were called in about Cruz.

Rep. Bill Hager from Boca Raton previously called on Gov. Rick Scott to remove Sheriff Israel. Israel appeared on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday morning and said he would not be resigning. He called Hager’s letter “shamefully, politically motivated” and said it was “full of misinformation.”

Hager is one of the Representatives who signed Corcoran’s letter to Gov. Scott on Sunday.

Also, there seems to be some appearances of impropriety, to say the least surround Sheriff Israel and his cronies.

On a related note, perhaps Rep. Shawn Harrison should seriously consider issuing an apology to his former District Sec Benjamin Kelly and offer his job back with a raise after firing him for the unmspeakablt ctrime against humanity of speaking the TRUTH. After all, Douglass HS is known for it's excellent media arts curriculum, so there's no need for "crisis actors" here. Ironic that the latest hoplophobic media darling David Hogg lives in COWARD Cty, who's Sheriff is more corrupt than BOSS Hogg.

I have a theory on school shootings or lack of them in South Los Angeles, Memphis, Newark, Baltimore, etc....

The presence of guns and those ready to return fire at the scene and for years after aimed at the perpetrators family and friends. Think about it.

Rich suburbanites with decent schools and full security is where open season starts. You may find shootings in da hood, but they sure aren't gonna happen where the hoid kids get free meals, a nurse, heat, birth control, and sports teams.

These are oddly enough sacred to them. Nobody goes out whipping a gun. Many have them but wait for a different venue like a drive by.

I was going to contact my rep to make sure he understood that the expectation should be to fully investigate the Broward county Sheriff & School board and produce a “What went wrong paper” prior to even thinking about changing any laws. I see his name on this document so at least the are start out on a good course.

Not to mention that Israel colluded with school officials to quash info about crimes being committed on campus in order to give a false impression of the climate on the campus. To do that, they withheld physical evidence and doctored reports to aid and abet the criminal activities occurring on the campus which was, in many cases illegal in and of itself.

The "sheriff" and his staff were committing illegal acts and receiving free "squatter rights" in return. No telling how much actual money exchanged hands over the years this practice went on - the office of the Sheriff has been thoroughly corrupted and Israel and many of his staff should be facing jail time - if Scott wants to protect is political prospects, he must come down hard on the Broward County Sheriff Department else it will come back to bite him in his next campaign - his statements about not using armed teachers and other viable assets to protect students and to leave that to the "professionals" is another strike against him. Unless Scott fires up the "toaster" against Israel and company, he may become toast himself.

A “Threat Assessment” on Cruz was ordered January 2017. What happened to it? Is is being hidden? Was it destroyed by the idiot Sheriff who is scared ****less he’s gonna lose his pension and wealth stashed offshore? Was it ever completed? Who was assigned to do the ‘threat assessment?’ Peterson? Someone else at BSO? One of the cowardly pansies with perks and pensions in the Broward PD?

Let’s ask the Miami Herald.

In 2013, Sheriff Israel entered a collaborative ‘sanctuary’ agreement with other county officials and the Broward County school board to not arrest or prosecute juvenile delinquents in order to lower the stats of minorities incarcerated and meet federal quotas by which they received additional federal funding.

Tax dollars received under false pretenses need to be exposed. Taxpayers demand the Sheriff’s Office books be audited at once. The Sheriff runs the largest fully accredited sheriff’s office in the country, oversees nearly 6,000 employees, has an annual budget of $730 million tax dollars, and holds enormous political power.

The Bank Secrecy Act should be mobilized——to follow the paper trail and determine how money changed hands among (a) the Sheriff’s Office (b) L/E projects, (c) and/or political activities.

Taxpayers demand that the scope and dimension of collusion in sub rosa deals be examined, as to who might be personally profiting and if financing domestic terrorism is being facilitated.

<><> L/E needs to examine bank accounts of the aforementioned.

<><> Joint bank accounts might be used to facilitate the transfer funds from one account to another, and/or wire-transferred offshore;

<><> To cover their tracks, fake invoices might be created to show that money deposited into Sheriff’s Office accounts was being used for legitimate purposes.

<><> Financial schemes scheme might be advanced by issuing phony statements of payments from financial sources that actually covered the transfer of funds for insiders’ personal use and/or for financing domestic terrorism.

Shady banking transactions could be prosecuted under the (1) Bank Secrecy ACT, (2) RICO, and, (3) the Hobbs Act.

<><> L/E should get ahold of: (1) copies of Sheriff’s Office checks, (2) wire transfers, (3) account statements, (4) invoices, (5) bills, (6) delivery tickets, (7) SPLC correspondence including snail mail, e-mail, mobile devices, cell phones, (8) contracts, (9) loan agreements, (10) other account books or official records.

L/E should also explore (a) monies paid to brokers, sub- brokers, (b) family members, (c) mortgage brokers, (d) financial managers, and, (e) real estate agents, brokers, and developers.

<><> L/E should scrutinize bank accounts for suspicious activities: (A) large deposits, (B) funds transferred from one account into another, (C) frequent requests for withdrawals.

<><> Sheriff’s Office bank records might also show diversions to secret LLC accounts, to money launder and to operate personal ventures;

Tax fraud may also be a factor, facilitated by withdrawals, gift cards purchases, credit card purchases and intra-bank transfers from legal bank accounts into personal accounts, or redistribution schemes.

<><> A huge tipoff is whether withdrawals support luxurious lifestyle including payments for real estate, investment and stock holdings, jewelry, luxury vehicles, resort travel....... and gifts and purchases from luxury outlets.

NOTE Falsifying official govt records is a criminal scheme to hide larger crimes.

Child Protective Investigations Section

Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse:

Florida law requires any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that a child is abused, abandoned, or neglected by a parent, legal custodian, caregiver, or other person responsible for the child's welfare or that a child is in need of supervision and care and has no parent, legal custodian, or responsible adult relative known and available to provide care to report their knowledge or suspicion to the Florida Abuse Hotline.

Effective October 01, 2012 Florida law now requires any person who knows, or who has reasonable cause to suspect, that a child is abused by an adult other than a parent, legal custodian, caregiver, or other person responsible for the child's welfare to also report such knowledge or suspicion to the Florida Abuse Hotline.

To report suspected child abuse, abandonment or neglect:

Call the Florida Child Abuse Hotline directly at: 1-800-96-ABUSE (1-800-962-2873)
Submit electronically at DCF website: http://www.myflfamilies.com/
Submit report by facsimile (fax) at: 1-800-914-0004
Stressed by parenting? Don't direct your anger at your child. Get confidential help from “First Call for Help.” Dial 2-1-1 or (954) 537-0211. More information is available at www.211-broward.org.

When a reported concern of suspected child abuse, neglect or abandonment by a caregiver or other person responsible for a child is received in Broward County, the Broward Sheriff's Office investigates the allegation in the specialized unit, Child Protective Investigations Section (CPIS). Because Broward ranks high among Florida counties for the number of abuse reports received monthly, extensive resources and collaborations have been devoted to this section including 94 investigators, 16 supervisors, 4 managers and 32 support personnel.

The cases are referred to BSO by the Florida Abuse Hotline which is operated by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Each investigation is conducted jointly with local law enforcement as defined in longstanding Memorandum of Understandings executed with local police municipalities. Specially trained child protective investigators focus on child safety issues, while the law enforcement personnel investigate any criminal aspects to the case.

BSO CPIS incorporates on-site multi-agency assistance to immediately address specific frequently encountered detrimental family issues such as substance abuse, mental health and domestic violence that may be an underlying factor in resolving the harm, neglect or abuse. Additionally, BSO CPIS uses the Broward County Sexual Assault Treatment Center / Child Advocacy Center for medical exams and other related enhanced evaluative and investigative assistance.

Additionally, BSO relies greatly on an extensive collection of community partners to intervene with referred families that need ongoing family support and family strengthening services. Families are assessed for service needs during an investigation. Annually thousands of families are referred by BSO CPIS for voluntary service assistance intended to improve parenting capacities and strengthen family functioning with a focus on enhancing child safety. Even if abuse isn't confirmed by BSO, many families that are met may have identified service needs and are offered such assistance.

When a victim child must be removed from a home, the section's first choice is placement with a willing and capable relative, offering a safe and caring environment. If that isn't possible, out-of-home placement is arranged by the local community-based care provider, ChildNet, located adjacent to the BSO CPIS office. They locate an appropriate foster home placement within hours. These cases are directly referred to the local juvenile dependency court system.

If it is determined a child was a victim of abuse or neglect, but circumstances indicate the child is able to remain safely in the home BSO may refer the family to a contracted provider funded by the Children's Services Council of Broward for intensive in-home service intervention. In other instances the child protective investigator may determine the filing of a petition for adjudication of dependency with the court is in the best interest for ensuring compliance to needed supervision and services with the family.

The Broward Sheriff's Office has full responsibility for all county child protective investigations and operates under a multi-year Grant agreement with the Florida Department of Children and Families since 1999.

n the Parkland case, their security system had a dismal record concerning student safety and security that should be brought to public discussion particularly beginning with this school having a so called “gun free zone”.

From what has been reported .This school system did have an understanding with the Broward County Sheriff’s Dept. An officer who may be armed assigned to patrol the multi acre site in a golf cart, but bans guns from the rest of its internal security

Criticism arose when the officer assigned to this duty who was nearing retirement was reported to arrive late and after Cruz had entered the building. The officer stationed himself outside the large structure and had called for support. Two BCSD officers responded Which and did the same seeming to refusing to enter the building while armed . He then left before Cruz did.

Also responding was the Coral Shores PD who entered the building and cleared it. Cruz was captured while fleeing with other students by an alert CSPD officer on the 45 acre campus.

Those laissez faire attitudes strongly suggest examining records beside the interaction between the BCSD and this school board also calls for a review how the bureaucracy at this school handled student vs student, and student vs teacher (Cruz was accused of this) altercations, vandalism, thefts, and drug use. Which are bound to occur were being dealt with.To which a dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents were reported after a visit by Obama occurred was publicly acclaimed.

Because of these Ding Bat liberal policies it brings up another question. Just how safe and secure were those kids ? .Examine records reporting how student vs student, and student vs teacher altercations, vandalism, and thefts, which are bound to occur were being dealt with. Beside the arrangements with the BCSD.

Because in an educational unit this size it’s pretty clear their security system failed . In a secure system Cruz would have never gotten within the grounds let alone inside.

Now that school board has decided to tear down the school which was probably raised by a funding referendums and the grounds house a memorial
