Bullshit. let them retaliate. I don’t want to live in a country anymore that is made by China. This is a reckoning against our politicians who have gutted families and this nation

Kudlow used to take calls on his radio show. No more. Maybe he didn’t appreciate being challenged?

Anyone reading the brilliant analysis from Sundance at CTH will understand what's going on:

Since 1989, we've become a service economy. We don't make things anymore. But we do have baristas who can explain the s--t out of a chocolate-infused cappucino at Starbucks.

That might be good for consumers, but it's not good for the overall health and well-being of the nation.

Trump has been talking about this for decades. Even on Oprah's show, he was talking about it in the 80s. If we don't build things like we did in WWII, we are cooking our own goose.

Bullshit. let them retaliate.

They won't retaliate.
They would stand to lose even more sales to their best foreign cutomer in a trade war.

I don’t want to live in a country anymore that is made by China.

This will create jobs in America.
When there is less foreign steel the demand for American steel will go up.
When demand goes up it will take more American labor to produce it.

This is a reckoning against our politicians who have gutted families and this nation

There are a lot of politicians who profit from pandering to foreign companies.

It's illegal for the money to come directly to them from foreigners.
But there are legal work-arounds and they know every one because they wrote them into the laws.

A lot of our trade problems can be traced back to organized labor. They had a stranglehold over the manufacturing industry. That is what forced a lot of companies to move overseas.

I hope when manufacturing comes back to America, the Unions don't take over again.

I still remember all the strikes by the UAW back in the 60's and 70's. This is what helped the Japanese car industry.

I worked for a military contractor. ITAR
statements on every drawing when designing
parts for Military Vehicles. No more than
10% of the vehicle was allowed to be
foreign made, and Nothing was allowed
from communist countries. This should
be carried over to the private sector
as well.

Sad. A large part of the economic revitalization over the past year is due to the removal of excessive economic regulation and the reduction of taxes. It is disappointing to see President Trump do a 180 and increase taxes and embrace regulation.

A tariff can only hurt the U.S. economy.

As with most things in this environment, the impact of the proposed tariffs are greatly exaggerated. One freeper did the math for a typical car. The delta: $3 per monthly payment. There are three kinds of good tariffs: The first one is a temporary tariff that allows the U.S. to get its competitive sh*t together. Sometimes that means the companies, sometimes it means government regulations/taxes/etc. and most times it is both.
The second kind of good tariff is to ward off dumping to kill a U.S. competitor and then to jack up prices.
The third kind is a tariff to soften the impact of currency manipulation. There are other tools to accomplish this without using a long term tariff. I think long term tariffs as a rule are bad for the country. It throws sand in the gears of our productivity engine. Cheap labor can be overcome with more productive labor.
