The “immigrant” theme dominated the acceptance speech, and not for the first time Sunday, in one of the major Oscar categories — the best director award.
Fantasy director Guillermo Del Toro won the Oscar for his film “The Shape of Water” and leaped right into the matter and said movies should lead to one world and erase national sovereignty.

He’s obviously an ignorant nut but I’ll give him credit for making the first ‘Pacific Rim’ movie which was a blast. Ironic that someone with such an eclectic, varied taste for movies would favor one government to run the world.

Del Torro is a “fantasy director” which seems to fit with his desire to erase national sovereignty. I wonder who he would put in charge of running the world? Probably his friends in Hollywood and other random elitists.
