The German government warned Monday that a transatlantic trade war would harm both Europe and the US, urging Washington not to take a “wrong path” after a weekend of aggressive trade rhetoric.
“I don’t want to judge how close to or far from a trade war we are. Such a trade war would not be in German, European or American interests,” Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin.
However, “closing oneself off and protectionism are the wrong path,” Seibert added, after President Donald Trump at the weekend threatened to impose tariffs on car imports from the European Union.
Last week, Brussels raised the specter of a tit-for-tat trade war with the US, saying it would slap a border tax on items like motorcycles, orange juice and jeans if Trump went ahead with a promised tariff on steel and aluminum imports into the US. …

I warn Germany about following the wrong path on immigration.
Time for Germany to pay us back for rebuilding West Germany and West Berlin via the Marshall Plan after WWII and for protecting them for 40 years during the Cold War.
And we want Euros or US dollars - none of that worthless Arab money floating around over there now that Merkel has decided to make Germany the nexus of the new European Caliphate.
Maybe a trade war is what we need. Maybe we’d win.
The EU is a protectionist bloc, using regulation to keep American goods out of their market, while demanding free access to the American market.
That settles it....I’m for tariffs!

Since they’re such free traders, they should have no problem lowering their car import tariff from 10% to match ours - 2.5%.
