Pomona? That is a Mexican town. Heavy Mexican gang presence there, and has been for years. It was a hellhole in the 1970s, and I can only imagine it is worse today.
My memories of Pomona are limited to visits to the L.A. County Fair in the early 50s. I remember enclosures filled with rattlesnakes that you could peer into. Nowadays you couldn’t have them because you’d worry someone would drop their kid into it.

Pomona was largely black in the 70’s, but Mexicans drove most of them out during the 80’s. It’s about 70% latino these days with a few bkacks remaining. Whites are limited to two nice areas in Pomona, one area known as Phillips Ranch and upscale homes near the LA County Fairgrounds.
