Always use a credit card for online purchases. If there is any funny business and somebody gets the number, the bank will block its use and reimburse any losses.
Not quite true in all cases—
My debit card was hacked twice online -
The bank reimbursed me in full in 1 day.
My debit card was hacked at a Walmart POS. The bank contacted Walmart and I was paid the same day.
6 months later ALL the POS terminals at the Walmart here were hacked at the same time right after the chip-in-card came out.
They had to go to cash only for 30 days til they got it fixed. It is easier to hack a POS chip card system , apparently.
