Lamb vs. Saccone Special Election PA18
NY Times ^ | March 13, 2018

A thread to discuss the results.

I feel like Lamb has a lot of momentum, has run as a moderate, and has run a better campaign. I'll predict he'll win tonight (although I'd like to see Saccone win).

NYT does a good job with election results.

This sums it up: Trump runs great elections but the GOP runs crappy, dull, pathetic elections.

They need to get Reince Priebus back in there. He did a hell of a job.

Lamb giving an acceptance speech right now, and although media touted as moderate, all he’s doing is praising unions. So he is 100 percent Nancy’s.

Why are you watching them?

Anyway, yea it was kind of obvious Lamb was going to win he lead all night and we got the same old people on twitter claiming “my sources tell me Saccone is going to win by....”
Same old crap like with Moore. He stayed catching up all night and near the end same old “reliable” sources telling us not to worry Moore was going to pull it out.

Yes that is including the dem Alleghaney CO absentee ballots. They meant the 2 districts would have put Saccone ahead a little bit but we never saw him take that lead because Alleghaney Co started counting their absentee ballots before the last two R prescincts came in.

Apparently not, or at least as far as I can determine. Westmoreland has ALREADY reported the absentee ballots. That must have been why Saccone got to within the 95 votes. Then they later reported the two remaining precincts which didn't make up so much ground. But if true, then Saccone DID NOT win the election day vote.

That is what I am gathering from the reporting, and also why Lamb just did a victory speech.

I tuned in to watch weeping a gnashing of teeth. But actually, the Election coverage was good, so just kept watching.

There was a frickin sex scandal that led to the mid term. ...

This is what I was thinking of when all this started to hit the fan. There wouldn't even be a damn special election if the 'Pub Congressman (Murphy) would have kept his noodle in his pants when it came to screwing around with a mistress and reportedly asking her to get an abortion all the while claiming to be pro-life. That is the kind of scandal that is going to tarnish the brand of any 'Pub candidate who tries to hold the seat. I don't understand why these people have to screw up like this. How difficult is it to simply say no to one's baser proclivities and so lead a moral life? I'm no saint, but I know enough not to screw around and betray my marriage vows.

Remember when all those Dems ran as blue dogs and then voted for Obama care? An ultra lib is defined as one who votes 100 percent with Nancy, a blue dog mederate is defined as one who votes 99.5 percent with Nancy, downgraded only on an vote for an issue that does not matter, or when the Dem loss has already been established as lost or won.

Keep making excuses. the left is in full hate mode and so are anti Trump republicans ..the hate POTUS and are BIG TIME motivated.

The GOP-e wants POTUS agenda to lose just as much as the left.

There seems to be some media dispute on Westmoreland and an official has countered that news. I doubt anybody has any solid info at this point.

Dems won’t have many if any candidates in the midterms that can run away from Pelosi like this guy did anyway. They have to cover in the primaries.

And Pelosi will be in most gop campaign ads.

Yeah, this defeat and the suicide in Alabama may have been for the good ultimately.

Exactly.
Way to many on this site have seem to forgotten about the scandal. Murphy should have announced he would not run again and stayed in until the midterm. Someone went panic mode and rushed a bad campaigner out there.

A special election based on that scandal and the gop is that close? hardly a meter for a national takeover. Especially since the house is an arena that, while folks claim to hate congress, they love their own congressman.

Penn 18 was a local race.

The unions in western Pennsylvania include steelworkers who are backing Trump on tariffs 100%.

The Alabama senate race was a joke.
First, Trump should have never plucked Sessions for AG. (He’s not good at it and need to keep that seat.) Moore was historically trouble. Yet he still got that close after those scandals broke. (By the way, have any of those scandals actually been proven yet? Had not heard.) Even without the scandals, Moore had major missteps. Just bad moves. And, again, still got that close. There were some dem operatives who worked the tea party groups in that primary. Which went on here in Texas in primaries this year, but they were so crazy nobody bought it here.

Of the Republican in Penn 18 is smart, he’ll push his legal options. It drains the dems of money. They burned a big pay check on that race already. And nationally, they are hurting for funds.
