The cancer link here seems tenuous at best. He didn’t join the FDNY until 2003, and his work as a ferry operator in 2001 probably gave him less exposure to toxins than tens of thousands of other people.
Robin Roberts of ABC today show labeled a gay basketball player who came out of the closet as a hero. This is the mental illness we all face in this nation.
Not unexpected out of lesbian Roberts.
Another example of the best of America.
Then the story and its writer are obnoxious.
Father, please prepare a grand welcome for this hero. He sacrificed much for us wand we were unable to show him our gratitude and admiration.
Please welcome him home
RIP brave soul. May the angels deliver you into the arms of the Savior Jesus Christ.
May our Precious Lord bring comfort to his loved ones.
Yes, what he did is heroic but here are many heroic things that happen daily.
The man who drives the garbage truck and the men who work at the sewage facility save countless lives. Without them, we would live in a world of filth with hundreds if not thousands dying daily.
The men that work the oil rigs, man the tankers, and run the refineries risk a great deal to provide us with warmth and transportation and other goodies. You can throw coal miners and lineman in this mix too.
I read of tragic farming deaths weekly. How many long time farmers have all their limbs?
The list is a long one of who we owe thanks to and yes, especially a firefighter that helped many escape certain death.
Mama always said correlation is not causation.
I didn’t realize so many of those firefighters had died.
That is so tragic.
I read about this person right after 9/11.
He was able to ferry thousands of workers out of Manhattan.
Sorry if you don’t think this man deserves the thanks he earned.
NYFD Thomas Phelan for your bravery in saving so many lives.
May God hold you and your family in the hollow of His hand.
Unfortunately, all those guys, if not already gone, are dead men walking.
I remember how they all had to remove their masks because the filters were getting too clogged from all the dust.
Unlike the dust you wipe off the furniture, the dust down there was mostly concrete and stone dust.
Cancer? Maybe. Future pulmonary fibrosis? Definitely. Can’t get all that silicate out. Constant rubbing like sand paper. Won’t end well.
RIP. What a hero.
Maybe you were responding to a different post?
To be fair, the writer does point out that it’s the “family and friends” of the deceased who are claiming that the illness was related to 9/11.
