I take it that you have never watched mythbusters
The main theme of the show was making bombs and blowing things up.

Before we start putting on the foil, take a good look at the FBI and then tell me that The X-Files was NOT a documentary.

“Why would they have to run by thousands of hours of footage? A dropped off package would be clocked into the system very quickly.”

A dry run earlier where he might not have been trying to hide his face, etc.

That’s the missing back story.

Was it dropped off at the FedEx location where it blew up? It could have been dropped off at any other FedEx location, no? If that were the case, which FedEx drop-off locations would you review? Multiple sites, multiple cameras over multiple days —> thousands of hours of footage.

Or, maybe they started with the assumption that he dropped it off at that blown-up location shortly before it exploded and that would narrow it down to a few hours of video as you say. Maybe the bomb exploded at FedEx accidentally and it wasn’t the target.

What is with this “waited for SWAT” crap?

What do regular patrol cops lack, after they’ve found the perp and the car?

Sounds like political “glory management”.

First rule of a good terrorist....Use Cash!!

These cellphones have GPS unless you turn it off. I'm guessing he's not a real techy person....I'd say his forte is mechanics.

I am just saying they know all about us already. Of course they could have asked FEDEX who this guy was. That is if he was telling the truth, which he was unless he paid with cash. Many places don’t take cash now so a credit card brings further exposure. THEY can box you in pretty quickly.

It is a little easier to find perps than back when these were on the loose. These can’t be found anywhere and punished. (more sarc)

I forgot about the one that didn’t go boom. Good point. He’d be a real idiot to leave a trail that can be followed — tracking numbers, addresses, security cameras, vehicle plates, etc. But he turned to crime / terrorism, so not the sharpest pencil in the box.

I don’t know many 24 year olds with the skill sets to change their own oil.

But, that doesn’t mean its difficult.

Any tech trained high school grad, with access to the internet could do it.

But, your ex-GI bet is likely.

You are jumping to the conclusion that somebody walked in and dropped off the bomb. That doesn’t seem like a good starting assumption to me. I mean, who would so stupid as to do that?

Pardon me for saying so, but it sounds like you are playing Monday morning quarterback there.

“Other news stories have ID’d him as white.”

“White” in liberal speak is “black”, then everything else.

I keep reading the Internet has lots of bomb-making how-to instructions.

Austin is full of Antifa types. There is a group called the Austin Red Guard, I think it’s possible he’s a member of that group.

You are correct, there are surveillance cameras everywhere also.

These days the police have a lot of resources to track people down who use cel phones and move about in public.

There was a reality show a couple of years ago where people had to stay undetected for a month. It became quickly apparent that any form of electronic communication would greatly increase your chance of getting caught. Camping in the woods in the middle of nowhere seemed to work pretty good..

I knew that one could be tracked if using cephones etc, I did not realize how easy it was and that surveillance cameras are basically everywhere.

So he was neutralized by officers carrying guns.

Shouldn’t they have just tried to talk him into cooperating?

That was actually an episode from the X-Files spinoff series, The Lone Gunmen.

But yes, prescient in a very chilling sort of way.

Boy, does that blow the hell out of the liberal narative! He was supposed to be under the influence of Billy Graham’s writings and an AR-15 as well as a card-carrying NRA member.

CNN will drop this story like a fresh turd!
