I can’t imagine that the national Democrat party would want this. Democrats have 55 automatic electoral votes from California.
If California was no longer part of the US, Trump would have won the election by comfortable margins, in both popular and electoral votes.
I find it hard to believe that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi and company, would want to see California leave the union.

No they will do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn’t happen.
If they leave—round up all the illegals in the other 40 states and export them to California. Then build a wall to keep the Californians out. Hillary can become president for life of the People’s Republic of California.
