Did Newton change the world?

Did Hawking change the world?

“conversely, was he ever proven incorrect?”

He at one point came out with some theory then two weeks later came out with another theory that completely contradicted the first theory. It was just the opposite of the first theory.

Take that for what it is worth and whether or not he was wonderful or just another hack who became famous because he had ALS and theorized many things. Many of which cannot be proven nor disproven.

Yes. Hawking had a decades long debate with Leonard Susskind on what happens to information in a Black Hole. Hawking took the conventional position that the information was lost. Susskind said it was preserved. Hawking lost that debate and ultimately admitted he was wrong.

Lenny Susskind really knows his stuff and is also a great teacher. I have enjoyed his youtube lectures.
