Exactly. I thought one had to be in imminent danger of political or religious persecution, imprisonment, torture and/or death at the hands of your home government in order to be granted asylum.

I'm unaware of such an oppressive regime in Guatemala.

Of course, the judge said they could apply for asylum, he did not say they had a right to be granted it. And that is where the Trump administration can prevent this from turning in to an "asylum-palooza" for Central Americans.
