The hippies were the kids of the people who lived through WW2.
Never made sense to me.
The adults of the generation who lived through the Depression and WW2 wanting to make sure their children had ‘’everything I didn’t have’’. Going to college was high on that list. That’s where a large part of the rot began.
I think the dawn of TV and the decline of traditional neighborhoods had a lot to do with it.
